Hi all, just bought front + rear paddock stands from Ghost on ebay. After assembly its a little loose and swingarm mounts dont line up exactly. As its my first set wanted to know if its normal to be a bit loose? Worried the bike will be unstable on the stands!?

H'mm the rear ones with the rubber cups are always going to be a bit unsteady and I wouldn't recommend leaving it unattended for too long, just in case it slipped off

I found my Micron stand was much more stable once I'd replaced the rubber cups with hook type adapters & bobbins on the swingarms.

Don't know if you can change the rubber feet on these ones or not, but thats what I'd be thinking of doing. You'll find the hooks and bobbins on Ebay

If it doesnt line up ....get some house pipe..cut it and its the perfect size to hold the cups in place.

house pipe? Once cut where does it go? (sorry, a bit thick when it comes to DIY)

i understood it as the sqingarm mounts dont like up correctly, so theres the U shape cup with the bar I << like that.
Bit of hose pipe on the end and it will always be in the same place.
Then again i could have the completely wrong end of the stick here.

Sorry to confuse. Ive drawn on the photo to explain better. I think the problem is with the bolt (circled in red) which lets the upright part wobble from left to right slightly (red upright lines). But the top bits that holds the rubber swingarm cups point slightly away from each other (horizontal dotted lines). Think it might be bad welding!?

Maybe not bad welding, but the upright is not square maybe because its set in that position when its cooled down or somemast like that. Or it's had a bang either in transit or in the factory?

Sounds like poor quality control as well. But for the price you paid for both can you complain and send it bacK. Yes of course, but is it worth the hassle ?

If I slowly twisted it back into alignment, would that weaken the metal?

I've got a cheapy paddock stand and it has the same issues as yours.

However, after doing some servicing on the Bandit this weekend (1 of my damn center stand bolts has gone walkies???), and replacing an entire engine on my SV, it won't go anywhere ;)

If your unsure, just bang a new bolt through it and put a nut on the other side to stop it sliding left/right.

I removed the silly springs from the swinging arm support, so just manually allign them to the swinging arm when putting the stand underneath.

Should be ok, so long as you don't put a kink in the tube. Steel has some inhierant flexibility

Hi. just used mine today. Was stable enough but not great quality. After using them one of the wheels fell off (well, the e clip did. luckily they come with spare ones). But overall good enough to work with.

About the front Stand: its kind of upside down with the forks sliding in between the two rubber bits. You'll notice the back of the SV's front fork has a lip about an inch up from the centre bolt (which holds the wheel on). This is what stops the stand sliding all the way up the forks. Ive attached a drawing (hopefully) to help explain.

thanks for drawing. managed to do it different, the lower rubber bit under the fork and the other on back of the fork in the lip. will try as draw shows see if its any different. broke one of the rubber bits off already haha

Yep, Shoddy quality. I've cut some hose pipe and slid it over them. think it will make it last longer. Oh, what fun.
