Yeah yeah its bikes, but meh...

If you wasn't around when this bike came about, or maybe you was but didn't fully understand what went into it other than a revolutionary bike of its time, then have a watch of this.

ITs a good hour including downloading all the parts (5), but its well worth the watch of how a few men made the worlds most advanced motorcycle, nearly beating the factory Ducatis 888's "back in the day".

Sadly John passed away with skin cancer at the age of 45. A huge loss to motorcycling.

IF you want to see what bike im on about....

I remember that when it came out , it was in PB , I remember being really impressed with the ceramic coated headers . Didn`t the swingarm bolt onto the engine as well ? I remember the front being special too , was that hub-centre steered ?

Yup, also the first bike with carbon fibre wheels.

Carbon fibre front forks as well as the hub stearing.

Home made cast engine as well, and all parts were home made (bar the odd bits, which ironically the odd bits are the parts that failed).

Use of carbon fibre bodywork as well.

Aaaah that brings it all back , I remember them saying they got the wheels wrong and they used to explode at a certain RPM ........ Sca-Roooooh that , I wouldn`t like to have had the job seeing what RPM they did go bang at . I got visions of someone with eyes clamped shut and a grimace on their face with the head turned to one side as they gingerly wind the throttle on .

"Please , not me , please not me , please not me"

Videos good as it shows the first bike front end simply snapping after a wheelie and dropping the bloke and breaking his collar bone...

They upgraded it

All I remember is the sound of those things over The Mountain at the TT. You could hear it miles away and over the Jap fours. Proper Thunder In The Mountains.

Such a shame for the guy. Way way ahead of the game.
