You can get pearlescent from Halfrauds, but, you got to spray it all at once and be specially trained... I think

I would recomment the colour of my car as it is very nice, but, I don't want your bike the same colour as my car, ha ha
Why not try "petronas teal"? (http://riviere67.free.fr/Championnes/FP/fp1_1.jpg) ha ha

What paint have you used for this?
Wideboy
25-10-09, 07:42 PM
not used any paint yet, if you mean primer it was acid etch, ran it through the compressor though it wasnt aerosol
sv_rory
25-10-09, 07:46 PM
acid etch! :O
Really you wanted to use an adhesion prmoter then 2k primer, Upol do awesome products for that.
Etch is most commonly used and really best for aluminum parts.
Make sure the plastic was as smooth as glass and not "fluffy" from prep marks, the little fibres will lift through the paint.

i'v used u-pol before and thought the cans where crap, the nozzles drip and splutter that's why i went for tin rather than aerosol
Bright yellow so u can be seen numpty head
sv_rory
25-10-09, 07:53 PM
I'm not talking about aerosol
You get it to go through the gun.
Also the reason cans splatter is because the components inside aren,t mixed correctly and are under temperature.
I use and adhesion promoter from upol in an aerosol for small jobs, it allows 2k etc straight over. i'll get the name of it in a monent.

Here you go mate,
I've just popped down and luckily I have some bits here to show you.
heres a picture of the promoter, I use this in the bodyshop all day long for small jobs like bumper repairs and swear by it.
http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/sv_rory/BodyshopConsumables001.jpg
Heres the picture of the primer I use for pretty much everything.
http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/sv_rory/BodyshopConsumables002.jpg
And also the hardner. This primer is a 4:1 ratio.
http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt112/sv_rory/BodyshopConsumables003.jpg
These products are the best and I reccomend them to anybody.

tar, you know anything about them trying to ban cellulose paints, have they done it yet?
Do a chess board effect.
That'll look sweet and I know you've been making chess/draughts boards IIRC!

Basically solvent based paints are being replaced by water based.
its because of the isocynates if thats how you spell it.
Solvent based is still readily available over the counter from all suplliers I have used.
In my opinion water based is better for several reasons.
1, it is safer.
2, it lays better
3, a lot less chance of reaction as it is not solvent based and therefore will not react with any other paints on the panel.
Shops are allowed to use all there existing stock, one guy I was talking to has enough to supply the same amount of solvent paint as he reguarly sells for the next ten years or more!
On the tin you will have a sticker that states not for use in the automotive industry.
I will get a picture of a tin i have here to show you what i mean.
You are allowed to use it for classic restoration

Not all Solvent based paints contain Isocyanates, only those that are to be used in high temperature applications and do are in a resin type system.
Paints can also be set 'hard' by using a dilute organic peroxide, but, that is more professional paints then over the counter stuff.
If you need it that bad WB I can get my hands on some high quality paint that is used in aviation, just, can't be too fussy on colours as it is either white, blue or camo-green...
