i went to get the paint mixed for the bike after work and got to the paint shop about 4:45. Before i'd even said what it was that i wanted the 2 bloke's behind the counter said "you've come at a crap time we're closing at 5, you wont get any paint mixed now!" so i said "alright, yeah that's fine, if i give you the code can you mix it tomorrow and me pick it up in the evening".
so i gave them the code then asked them to chuck some 2 pac lacquer, epoxy thinners, another can of primer on the deal, I hadn't even been there 5 mins and they both were being really arsy and blunt with me and i was getting a bit peed off with them and calmly said "what's with the attitude's, do you want my business or what?" to which i got a blank looks, asked them just to box it all up and then offered to pay for it all then so i could just pick it up tomorrow but they declined my offer and i left the shop in a mood
i said i was going to phone tomorrow before i leave work to check if they had done it so i could pick it up, they have none of my details or any money so im thinking of leaving it, i couldn't really give a crap if they mix it now i wasnt going to use them anyway so thinking of leaving them to it

Yes, you should still buy it! Just because they were moody still doesn't give you the right to screw them over. Just don't shop there again. If their unfriendly attitude annoyed you then you should have left the shop before placing the order.

sterling customer service you got there mate.
i'd go back just before they close, waste a lot of their time and then when they have rung it up say "you know what, i think i'll leave it actually. You guys are just to desperate for my money and i dont like that" and then just walk out ;)
Who votes Spidey as the forum's official advice giver? Everyone a gem mate. EV-ER-Y-ONE. :)

I wouldn't step foot in the place again, nor would I give a second thought to whether they mix it up or not as they never gave you a second thought! I seriously doubt that they'll mix it anyway.

Option 2
Perhaps the mods could do a poll. both have their merits :p

I can't see what the deal is with mixing paint anyway-does it take hours or something? Especially if 2 of them were there, I can see the issue if they were busy and asked you politely if tomorrow would be ok, but not when they aren't.
I'd go back tomorrow, if the paint has been mixed, I'd pay, and then comment on their service-or lack of.
I work with the public, and for years the manager of our branch used to treat people like this, until someone complained. I'm a great believer in making people aware of why you won't shop there again, otherwise they carry on with their behaviour.

Phone them close to closing time ask them if they've mixed it if they say yes tell them you dont want it any more if they say no ask the to hurry it up then repeat.
Phone them and tell them that you want to collect at about 15:00.
Add lots of things to the order.
Phone at about 15:00 and say you have been stuck in a meeting and will collect about 16:30.
Ring them at 16:30 and tell them you are on your way but wont be there till about 17:15.
At about 17:15 ring them again saying that you had been chatting with a friend who knows somebody in the business who is happy to supply what you need but their attutude was far more friendly and that you would rather hand over your hard earned to somebody who actually appreciates your business.

it may be a paint work shop thing!
The only time ive ever been to buy paint that needed mixing the couple that run the place made it seem like I'd really put them out by asking for the stuff. They too were closing within the hour, maybe it takes them an hour or so to clean all the stuff down so anyone coming in, in the last hour who isnt wanting stock stuff really winds them up especally when its dominos night lol.
What did you end up doing in the end?

Sounds like terrible service but I'd still buy it if you have already got them to mix it. Just don't shop there again and make sure they know why.
Wideboy

Nope, got a place mixing it as we speak (hopefully) and for £2'ish cheeper. yay!!

what would concern me is that if they have such a lacking attitude towards customer service they probably have a lacking attitude to their job as a whole so if if you were to buy the paint it probably wouldnt be 100% anyway,
Presumably they expect to be paid til five, so a paying customer in a recession, expecting them to work til 5 doesn't seem so terribly unreasonable.
Whats so hard about mixing paint anyway? Can't anyone with a media studies degree do it?

i am now in possession of said paint from the other shop :D, i cant wait to spray :p

this is the way i look at it, i made a order of 70 odd quid in total with some other stuff i was after, now if your boss came up to you at 5 and said "you mind working on a extra 10 -15 mins, ill give you (even just) 40 quid" you'd most likely say yes

Just to be your mother here wideboy - please wear a cartridge mask atleast when spraying 2k paints. You're supposed to wear an airfed mask, it's really nasty ****. For a one off though I've just used a cartridge mask in the past.
