Looking at this for Green lane fun and as a winter bike.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOR-125-250-XR-E-XT-ROAD-LEGAL-ENDURO-TRAIL-TRIALS-BIKE_W0QQitemZ350265661578QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Mo torcycles?hash=item518d75d88a (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOR-125-250-XR-E-XT-ROAD-LEGAL-ENDURO-TRAIL-TRIALS-BIKE_W0QQitemZ350265661578QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Mo torcycles?hash=item518d75d88a)

I would use this 5 days a week doing a 30 mile round trip for the winter months.
Will this fall apart (import)? It looks quite well made but eh what do i know!
Would i be better off getting a second-hand KTM ect ect although dout i would get a one in good nick for around 1500 quid?

What’s your views ? you could make an offer of about £1500 with free delivery and i bet they would accept the offer .

I’m not definitely going to do this its just something im thinking of as i have spend nearly a grand getting the SV back on the road and i dont want to slide it when it starts getting icy out side.

I used to have a Hyosung XRX 125 cc and it was perfect for winter commuting similar to this but this is 250cc

Thanks any advice would be appreciated 8)

If i were you id get summit a little older and bigger cc-wise for some proper winter fun! theres loadsa trialies on evilbay for your price range.

i could never go back to a 125cc now, would drive me round the twist esp on a commute however short.

**** just checked it's an 07 with nearly no miles on it but it ain't road legal. It'd need a brakelight+headlight+indicators & registering before you could ride it on the road. Nice bike though.

I just got rid of my YBR because I couldn't take it anymore lol it's like riding in a trolley. I got myself a 2006 GS500 instead :)

because i have just had an off and its cost me loads of money to get fixed .
I love my bike and i cant be botherd with it sliding down the road again when it gets icy/snow out side.

Enduro bikes you crash and pick them up and off you go again and they grip better in ice

What about a DR350, or some Ymahah 225/250 enduro bike, or a Honda XR250, or.....

Have fun on evil bay.

E.g:

I suggest you slow down, rather than resign yourself to crashing so much!!

Buying a bike to crash doesn't really sit well with me ....nor seem that economical....

I wonder how many bike crashes are rider error....

Edit:
A few grim facts that you may wish to scan over but according to this http://www.readingmag.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89:bike-accident-statistics&catid=25:the-project in 2005 atleast 61% of car drivers were at fault.

LOL i dont crash lots and im not buying a to crash but i would rather come off a bike thats not going to cost the eath to fix if i do slide it down the road .. when my sv is back on the road im going to have it fully sprayed and i dont really fancy driving in servere snow and ice with more of a chance of binning it then having to pay it all again and plus the salt on the roads corrodes the bike.
where as an enduro type bike im not that botherd because its not my pride and joy its just going to be used as a workhorse for the winter and mabe some fun off roading (which your not really going to do on your sv are you )you know what i mean .

Keep an extra eye out for ice/slippyness too

Yes you can chuck them down the road and replace all the plastics for under £100 but they wont grip better in ice.
My KTM hardly grips the road in the dry due to the lack of contact from the knobblies and also, knobblies tend to flex making the bike squirm a little too.

I like the look of the XR250 .. are these under 33BHP

I thought you wanted to green lane it?

Wont be doing much of that without a decent set of knobblies in the winter.

Aimed at the more serious offroad rider with the ride and handling of a competition spec machine.

Featuring our well proven un-breakable 125 or 250cc 4-stroke motors with 5 -speed gearbox , its an ideal dual sport bike for week day commuter

Dunno about you, but when i'm riding to work over wet, icy, wet leaf strewn roads, a 'competition' bike is not what i want. I want something comfy that wont blow up or get me to work via A&E.

Looks like an interesting bike and a giggle to ride but for a winter commuter, i'd look to something bombproof and proven like an old Transalp.

Edit: Not heard of Tor either but looking at their site http://www.tormoto.co.uk/ would be interested in seeing where they come from and what design the engines are based on. Looks like a dealer rebranding but the bikes themselves look ok.
