View Full Version : What tank bag do you use?
If you use a tank bag what do you find fits the SV pointy tank well? If you have a pic that would also be handy. Looking for a small to mid size bag that will take my dslr and a few other bits and pieces.

My experience is Curvt Im afraid and I use the Tech7 set
Fits the tank really nicely and holds whatever I want it to hold

I use an oxford magnetic one I got with a bike years ago - does the job, just slaps on , doesn't shift.
Can stack it up so it's bigger (zip on more compartments) for longer trips too.

Got mine from Lidl, magnetic one, its great. Only trouble is you'll have to wait for the next time they have this offer. It expands too, plus it unzips and there's a seperate map holder in the base to use on its own.

Bagster. Dear, but works great. Doesn't knacker the tank either.
I've had a few tank bags over the years, I've but never had one that lasted as well.

+1 on Bagster, super secure, easy to refuel bike when it's on and no scratched tank. They are expensive, even 2nd hand ones on eBay usually go for prices near to RRP, but worth it.

Another vote for Bagster. Well worth getting and the tank cover helps keep tank clean and tidy and your legs warmer!
I got mine on ebay not long ago, tank cover and bag for the grand price of £43! Bargain!

Givi magnetic. Falling apart after 5 years off daily use. Fits well and stocked in Bikestop.

+1 for Lidl - only problem I found is that it isn't waterproof and you needed to use the (provided) cover in heavy rain.
Then I bought a rack and top-box :D

This one;

Comes with a waterproof cover, I can carry my Nikon DSLR in it (with a peli-case foam insert) then keys, wallet and phone go in the thwo other outer pockets. Had it four years, no signs of wear.

No just some sarnies and of course the kitchen sink :winner:
Many suggestions and thanks guys.
BluePete the 440n looks interesting. Do you have any pics to hand of it on the SV? Or maybe a pic showing the Nikon sitting in it? I was worried the magnets would damage the camera but you have not seemed to have any problems.

Having used a magnetic tank bag on my Hornet over the years I've noticed I get loads of scratches on the top either side at the front. I think the problem with an unfaired bike is gravel and dust get blown under the front of the bag and then when you just pull it off it scratches the tank. Perhaps I just ought to be more careful removing it but I guess the whole idea of a mag bag is you can just whip it off, just something worth considering if you're very tank proud...

I use a oxford sport tankbag, with a lifetime garentee, well built but have to tape the tank everytime as it scratches
Oxford Sports very happy with it. Use that rubber matting stuff underneath you can buy for a pound.

This is the camera in a peli-case foam insert with base foam to isolate from shock. (Taken on my phone)

And on the bike, it slopes away from the rider, so causes no obstruction. Plus, it is quite comfy to rest on at traffic lights.

Then is expands, which gives a suprisingly extra amount of space.

You can get it at pound shops or Wilkinson's cheaply. Robert Dyas also do it but you pay more. Think motorcycle accesory shops do it as well but again quite expensive while it's only a pound or so in the above shops. I also use it to protect my rear panels when I use bungees.

I fitted a piece of this after the re-spray, it's near invisible and really easy to fit.

I find those very fidgity to undo and not really suitable for quick access to a dslr.
BluePete that looks a great fit for the dslr and i will add this bag on the list as one to check out at the NEC show. It does look a bit different than your normal bag but it is good to be different :)
*1 for Bagster. Tank cover and double bags - sweet. I used adhesive backed felt to cover the stitched seams - tank protection.

Yeah, I've got a Buffalo cersion of that, but I don't need all that space every day. So I use the small one which I can carry around.
