If you could let me have them id be VERY grateful, my cars being scrapped and i cant manage 3 kids on the SV, so it looks like the bikes gonna have to go unless a minor miracle occurs (either a lottery win or my mum giving me her car, the former is more likely!!)
Why is life such a b1tch? It's taken 38 years for me to finally find something i feel truly passionate about and just as i start to properly get to grips with it **** happens and it might have to go.
I am not a happy bunny, but as ever the kids needs come first, how can i justify them missing out on stuff because of no car whilst ive got a shiny bike sitting in the garage.
I can still use my partners sv to keep my hand in, but it just wont be the same :-( Gutted!!

The starter motors gone, and though thats a minor thing on its own, its just the last straw along with tax due aswell. Have already been quoted £700 to get it through its next mot due after xmas cos theres all sorts of problems with the turbo and emissions amongst other things. I should have taken it off the road 6 months ago, i cant believe the police havent pulled me over before now, i guess they couldnt see us through the trailing clouds of thick black smoke!
At 130+k miles its had a good innings, i just cant afford to throw cash at it anymore. My lovely OH has offered to buy a car on HP but i can't let him take on more debt for me, his jobs far from secure and its not fair to put additional financial strain on him.
Theres only one sensible solution and it sucks. :smt022:smt022

ah jeez that sucks. Have a look on autotrader for some old-ish VW's, they usually last a long time.
I remember Treacle selling his old Golf for only £500 recently and it was a very good runner.
Good luck hun.

A dangerous game to play. I know someone who did this very thing, made an off the cuff prediction, wrote them in plain sight of a lot of people and 5 plus the bonus ball came up. To say he was a bit annoyed would be to put it mildly. Buy the ticket :)

You know what, dont worry. Alot of people get themselves into real financial trouble because they dont recognise, or at elast ignore that they are struggling a little. You are very wise to take such a big desicion.
How about sell the SV, and get something smaller that is cheaper to run, insure and tax, but you can still have fun on?

IIRC Scoobs is also having some bad luck at the moment so you might be right they may just be the winning numbers he's given to everyone!!
Scoobs, if they come up, im definitely gonna buy you a beer ;)

I have to be sensible, as a single parent im already struggling loads. If i end up selling then im afraid every penny will have to go towards a new car, my bikes in good condition but W reg with 35k on the clock, its not going to fetch a huge sum. At least I can still use my boyfriends SV in the week, will just be riding pillion at the weekend. It could be worse x

We have two cars. Only use one but it's a long story :smt015:smt015
Anyway, they are both K reg. Nissan Micra And Peugeot 106. Both cost under £360 and both have, touch wood, been 100% reliable. I stay away from power steering, turbos and catalytic converters as they do go wrong and can cost a small fortune to fix.
Admittedly, I only use them for a daily 18 mile round commuter trip. Your requirements may be much more than that.
Sorry that you may have to sell your SV. Like you say, you can at least still go pillion. Small consolation.

It's a big step to take, but at least you can still ride during the week.

Aww this is rubbish! Phone Derren Brown, although, admittedly, I probably have more chance of predicting the numbers than he has!
I hope things start to look up for you KJ. x
I assume you're not in a position to buy a brand new car.
I was mildly upset I sold my car for scrap before the scrappage scheme came in. Is there no way (ebay) you can find someone about to buy a brand new car but doesn't have a car to scrap? (your car only needs MOT doesn't need to be a runner afaik)
Other than that, hope things pick up for you :grouphug:

I was hoping my mum would like to trade it in against a new car for its scrappage value and donate me her 52 reg focus, but doesnt look like shes up for it. Honestly, parents!!!
Gutted for you KJ :( Seems to be the sensible thing to do though.

I think you need a MOT and you must of owned the car for over 12 months to use the scrapage scheme.
sorry kellyjo to here about your troubles hope somthing pops up for you.

Marvellous....! Just the one beer.....? Sheesh! ;)
Hope it all works out KJ.

Not good KJ, like Pete Vtwin says avoid the ones with turbos and expesive stuff to repair. 135km is pretty good for a car these day, as cars are built to a price these days, not to a standard.
I was hearing some horror stories about new cars from my garage the other week, and we're talking about new new cars. Here's me talking with my 16 year old vauxhall cavalier which has just passed its MOT for another year. Needed new brake lines this year, but I didn't have to have anything done last year, so it owes me nothing.
This is not helping you KJ, so go with the advice, there are cheap cars about, although 2nd hand prices are keen at the mo.
not good KJ - there are some good cheap runabout if you can take some one with you to check
main thing is smell the oil make sure it ain't burnt and get them to start it up.
fingers crossed and sending you lucky pixie dust to help
