Well thanks to Luke I have won something, yippedydoodah! :-)
So having attempted to think about a theme for this month, I have come up with "Basic Shapes In Nature". So, basically ( :-P ) photographs need to include either circles, squares, triangles etc but naturally. None of this taking 4 twigs and placing conveniently in a square on a bed of leaves, it needs to be something you've come across either on your travels or locally that includes a shape. If you can get more than 1 shape in then even better. Oh and tell the rest of us where the shape is in the picture if its not blindingly obvious ;) And don't be making up shapes either :D
I'm thinking this theme could go either way, really hard or really simple if you happen to have the right photo, make of it what you will! Hope someone enters...

For example, triangles and squares in the above, not overly original but then I'm banking on the fact you people have more time and better imaginations than me :-P

Nice idea........ I also see circles and rectangles in your pic Maria :D
Are these threads still stickied? I think I need to start entering these again, look for inspiration..
Hmm this is a tough one.... looking through my pics i think this is the best i can do. Walking down those steps really screws your eyes up too.

It's amazing what mother nature can create these days! ;)
I might have a go at growing me a staircase. ;)

Not sure if this qualifies and I'm no camera expert, but here's where our friends in the attic live.....http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/nobbylad/DSCF0314.jpg

Found hundreds of these patterns around Oz. They are little tiny balls of sand and are made by crabs tunneling and pushing the waste sand out the ends of their tunnels! :)

That is brilliant. It sort of looks like a palm tree

Lukemillar I hope you're not trying to sway the judging by playing to my interests :-P (cracking photo though).
And Mel, what's the actual name for that tree, those fruits look a tad grotesque haha.

Hey I love these!! Have you ever sat and watched a crab making them?

It's known as a sausage tree.
Its scientific name is Kigelia Africana.

A lovely bunch of photos littlepeahead, one slight problem though...you can only enter one of them! Choose carefully now :-D

Ah, you can tell I'm still new to all this. In that case, I am going to enter a different photo altogether which I just remembered I took. It shows a circle, but if you look closely into the snow leopard's eye you can see the man made shape of squares that are the bars of the cage keeping her in captivity.

Can't get much more basic than straight lines :-)
I took this about a year and a half ago i think. We were just out for a walk in the hills and had to cross this stream with a rickety bridge - then I spotted this 'doughnut' of froth caught in a pool at the bank.

I'll go for this, Skiddaw wire fence in the Lakes, it is man made but more of it is nature turning it into art :-)

Hindle, it's a bit late for this particular competition but yeah the idea is you take the picture and enter it according to the theme chosen. Only one picture. And if you've photoshopped it, it's only fair to tell us really.
Matt that is awesome
Could i i have a print of that?
Sure you can - pm me your email address and I'll send you the original.
This was my first attempt at 'popping colour' - the colours are all original, but quite vivid as the sun was directly behind the flower, in effect backlighting it.
I still want to tone down the sky a little, and sharpen the B&W background a bit, but overall pleased with the effect.
Congratulations so 5HORT5 - that was my favourite picture aswell :smt023
