Hey, I've been lurking around here quite a bit, and I figured I may as well post and say hello...

So yeah... Hi! :viking:

I'm a proper petrol head (started on classic minis, and still have a few), and now that I'm in my late twenties, I figured I should do it properly and get myself a bike. At the minute, I'm in the 'try it and see' phase - riding my brother in laws little 100cc scooter in and out of work to see if I can hack it.

I'll keep it up and see how I like it, but having read around lots of different forums, I've convinced myself that I want an SV650S as my first bike, and limit it to 33bhp until my 2 years are up.

In Northern Ireland we can head out onto the road without doing the CBT (we don't have it over here), which is slightly terrifying. Just a little L plate to warn other road users... :smt087

I'm like a kid with a new toy, and yes, I know my waterproof trousers are bright bright BRIGHT yellow (shame!), and my jacket is a little too small for me (6'2 here), and yes I've only done 40mph so far, but wow...

... what a feeling to be on two wheels. :D

I think you fit right into the spirit of motorcycling. Dosn't matter what you ride, as long as you have fun riding it. I had a 100cc peugeot speedfight for a couple of years before getting an SV650. Just take it easy, build your roadcraft and develop your biker 6th-sense, and you'll be alright on a bigger bike :smt023 I found going from a scooter to a (restricted) SV ment I had to bulk up a bit, the SV was quite a deal heavier! But you get used to it after a couple of miles

HOwdy doo, welcome to the site :-) You must have no end of Irish chavs about on scooters then if they don't even have to fork out for a CBT! There's enough of them about on English roads and they do have to have one, ooo scary thought...

You have no idea... every night there's a whole squad of them on 50cc scooters drive past my house. About 5 of them, riding together, probably coming home from work.

Sounds like a swarm of slightly weak bees going past...

NNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEE...

Welcome mate. The SV is a great choice for a first bike and handles the 33BHP restriction very well.

Where you from?

howdya pronounce that then?

Try

RTS Motorcycle Training, they have a lot of instructors and do late evening lessons if you can't get out of work and through traffic early enough.

LOL! I had a few speed wobbles on mine, one particular day with a slight cross wind on a bit of a bumpy road, braking for a roundabout, the scooter went into some silly weave. I rode it not long ago (my dad still uses it), its a firkin death trap! front shock has no damping

take your time, dont rise to my bait!
