View Full Version : Firework Pics
I just got a new camera and since there has been a few fireworks going off i thought i might try and capture a pic or two.
I took around 25 but these are the only ones that turned out, so thought i'd share them and see what you think. Some are from last nite very close to my house and the others are from a very very very very very large firework display about 7 miles away.
Took a look, comments are welcomed, if they are crap then please say.

I looked online at a few, this seemed the best overall but only thing it lacks is adjustable shutter speed.

tother halfs just got one of them sony cybershot thingymedoodles.
Can't wait to have a play
Like the fireworks Girth. better than mine on my phone!
Nice pics, it's surprising the camera doesn't have manual shuttle control though, most bridge cameras I thought had that. The one below was also from the 5th with shuttle set to be open for 2.5 seconds although I stupidly forgot to change the white balance to remove the orange glow of the street lights. If you are sad like me and take pictures of lightning or the moon for example then having manual shutter speed and aperture control is important.

The sparkler pic is great! Agree bit of a shame about the orange hue but assume that could be easily sorted within PS?
Looking for a DSLR myself this Xmas to capture some bike action pics at Oulton next season, went down with my cousin a while back and his pics of the racing taken with his SLR looked like something out of a magazine, great.
Got a budget of around £400 max but read that the lenses that come with these 400 squid cameras are a bit rubbish so currently researching what the best bet would be as really don't want to spend more than that.

That looks really good. It's got a 30 seconds shutter exposure time. Does it capture video though?

hence why the sony a230 is still on the cards at £350 and some sellers are offering a £50 cash back from sony.

Kwak, if you can get hold of a Fuji S6500 it has a minimum shutter speed of 30 seconds. And it is a brilliant camera for half your budget.

ooops tis too easy to buy things on line lol - i just brought a Sony a230 DSLR for £359 with free polar lens filter, carry case/bag, 4 gig card and free postage and a bonus of £50 cash back! thats £309 when i get my cheque from Sony,.
Had a play with the camera yesterday in Curry's seems a quality bit of kit for anyone new to SLR cameras with a easy to use user interface,
all the reviews seem positive and a fellow orger gave it the seal of approval too so hopefully "jobs a good'un" :)
