Please excuse me if this is a hitler post, but looking through a thread just now in talk and tuning I notice that Daves avatar has been changed to a poppy and the dates 1973-2009.
I haven't seen a thread stating as much but fear the worst.
If so then my condolences to friends and family of Dave, and respect, as ever, for our armed forces and all that have fallen in honour of our country.
RIP fella.
Is doesn't look good. Does anyone know more about it?
We PM-ed about something and I had added him as a friend. :(

I'm afraid it is true. I have been speaking to Becks about this for the last day or so, she has apologised but she didn't feel up to starting a thread. I was going to put one up today but got beat to it.
Details are unknown but we do know he died as a hero.
Thoughts are with his family and friends and Becks of course.

I never met Dave but really wish I had, he could be both entertaining and informative as he saw fit, and passed on his knowledge freely and with the intention of helping others.

Please except my apologies for not advising you myself and for this brief message. It is with great sadness and disbelieve that myself and Dave’s (as he was known on here by his username) family announce that he died in the early hours (local time) of Sunday morning. I am unable to answer any questions at this time, the simple fact is I am unaware of where or how so please do not ask.
Dave returned to Portsmouth on Wednesday and was conveyed to the Queen Alexandra Hospital, a small private ceremony for family and colleagues is to be held next week.
Thank you for all your thoughts and messages, Dave will be deeply missed by us all.

Wherever Dave died, it wasn't in Afghan - he must have been on ops somwhere else in the world.
The Royal Marines/SBS haven't lost a man in Afghan since the sad death of Sgt Lee Houltram in Helmand Province on 29-8-09. Also, no-one called David has been killed in Afghan since L/cpl David Dennis of the Light Dragoons lost his life to an IED whilst on foot patrol in the Gereshk area of Helmand Province on 4-7-09

Another loss , Dave was great at giving out "spot on" information and in a timely fashion . He sorted me out a few times when I was an SV newbie and I always try to help others with technical problems if I can . Dave`s attitude towards helping others had rubbed off on me and I liked his style and aimed to replicate his helpful manner in my posts in the tech sections . You will be missed greatly in this corner of Wales , mate ........ Rest In Peace .

Oh man that is terrible :(. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in the flesh, but on the forum he always seemed very knowledgable about the SV and always happy to help out. He died so that we can live in a peaceful and more secure world, and for that I thank him. My thoughts go out to Becks and his family, I hope you guys are ok.
