I know its a common thing to upgrade the bouncing parts of the sv (as to be honest, they arent the greatest as a stock iten on the sv).
But has anybody thought about getting hold of an old dead gixxer and just dropping in an sv lump into it?
You would then get the v-twin engine in a performance chassis.
Is this not as simple as it sounds?

What's wrong with the SV chassis performance?
The frames performance that is. It isn't like an old GS1000 or something with a hinge in the middle.

Also an old dead gixxer will probably have a worse chassis! Old slabside one is way flexible with forks less use than anything in the world. Proper valving not even thought of, electric anti-dive that makes them lock solid. Emulsion shock absorbers worse than stock SV...

Also, lump will not just "drop in", you will need some serious amount of adaptor plates. This introduces flex. Then you get problem that gixxer frame must be stronger, so will be heavier. Same with swingarm etc.

So yeah much easier to just revalve some gixxer forks and put a decent shock on SV... then you have better handling than new GSXR!
