OK I am looking to book a week away in Jan 2010 apart from the Canaries and places like Dom Republic, where have people been that they can recommend.
I am wanting night life (Woozle unleashed) and sun !
Not wanting an expensive one either as I am skinto.

Morocco? Plenty of life in Marrakech (and bottom pinching) but maybe not clubs and stuff, although expect are. What about the other Morrocco cities like Essaouira, I bet they have nightlife.
Tunisia?
Not many other sun sure destinations. Unless go to Cape Town? But you said you are skinto.

we're off to book a holiday in Cyprus this week...for the end of Jan :-)
What about Cuba?, Shell...my bro went there a couple of years back, says it was brilliant. bet you could pick some good deal up somewhere if you look hard enough.
u say sunshine, but I'm guessing you mean beach/lazing around sunshine?
I would suggest going skiing/snowboarding! you get sunshine plus something to do all day, being in the mountains is amazing, and the nightlife will be amazing!
oh and if u go to the snow, can u take me?

He's not wrong.
Cyprus in Jan. You sure about that? Bit like a dryer November here.

Not fair Pete! I didn't have the paperwork and there was only some of it wrong. Most of it had the date we thought we were going!

Have a bit of a differant holiday. Since its cold, why not get really cold...and go to finland :D
Me and maria did earlier this year with transun. They give you suits and stuff to ensure you'll be warm (but you MUST take extra clothing, the suits alone wont keep you warm enough!) and you get to do some brilliant activities - I love huskies since being in charge of a group of 6 of them...twice! And snowmobiling in the darkest dark ever on a frozen lake is something really really cool
Why put up with a crappy, damp, squishy, wet, windy british winter? Go and have a proper winter in finland for a little bit

Thats because its not just a 'holiday'. Pegasus' is Cypriot, even though when he opens his gob a Scottish accent comes out! We're not going for the sun and beach, although a little bit would be nice. I suppose its like going home for him.

Besides if you go in Jan, you could have skiing in Troodos or sun in Paphos...best of both ;-)

finland isn't cheap though, esp if you want a drink or two

Then avoid anywhere that has been converted to the Euro.
Not convinced by Moroccan Night life on the club/ cutting moves on the dance floor side of it - especially as a single Female traveller.
Love Morocco - but it tends to be a laid back sort of holiday for me.

I take it when you say "places like Dom Rep" you mean the carribean is out altogether? What about Florida?
Sharm El Sheik is usually a good cheap winter break. Often some good all inclusive deals about.

Depends if you want a hot or cold holiday Shells!
If a hot one then you are probably looking at an expensive holiday as most places that are hot that time of year are more towards the Southern Hemisphere.
Cold one! Well we love going snowboarding, might go next year depending on a few variables, lots of wild parties if you choose your resort well haha!

I might be tempted by the snowboarding idea...
ive been away for the past 2 christmases and i can say they are up there being some of the best holidays i've ever had! the parting at night is brilliant, you get proper pubs and clubs half way up mountains. its not the cheapest holiday in the world, but there's nothing better than going to the pub straight off the slope and then trying to walk home in full snowboarding gear half canned! maybe we should organise an .org snow holiday!

Do not go to Cape Town. The England cricket team are there then so unless you want to spend a fortune on everything being bumped up in price and spend your evenings with the drunken barmy Army it is best avoided.
I went to Egypt in January once, it was winter there but still hot. Lots to see in Cairo and Aswan, though we didn't really do nightlife but I'm sure it's there if you want it.
Or Gambia.

How very dare you! The Barmy Army are loads of fun and you're guaranteed a good night! The prices won't be inflated...because it's Cape Town...and prices are always more in touristy spots anyway but at 12ZAR to the £ at the moment, it's not going to break the bank at all!
As for the Gambia and Egypt having a nightlife, I'd like to see you try...:smt077

Indeed...the nightlife though is a little, how shall we say;... restricted?;)

I agree there Jdubya, but its the getting to CT which isnt cheap!
+1 to the Egyptian nightlife being ropey, especially if you happen to be blonde at the time...even if you are with your partner they try it on, I even tried wearing a wedding band, didnt work!

I will join her, you will be so grateful to go back to work after that hahaha!
Oh and on that note, I will have to wait up for my rota to send to you, I might be changing shifts and then that will screw our plans up...standby one!
