What budget do you have??

I suggest going for the new Intel I7 chip and get an Asus ROG board. Fire in some triple paired memory and maybe a GTX295 and you'll have a rocking setup.

Do you need a whole PC

Case
PSU
CPU
GPU
RAM
HDD

Etc etc More details would be better

apparently intel are leading the market with the multi core dooberies work something round your pricing. Built a good'n dirt cheap couple of years ago still quick.

Depends on price I guess. I just picked up a 1Gb Ati HD4780 gfx card for £120, which plays all modern games pretty much on full and doesn't break the bank. I'm a big fan of buying the second newest of everything as they are usually almost as good yet half the price.

I got a gt7600 something or other over clockers edition when they were still £80+ in the shops for about £30 second hand of ebay. Worth looking for some bits second hand

Hi def... Man that GFX card would rape High def! :D

Id say thats fine, though I prefer Asus motherboards myself. Oh and the new 1156 pin Mobo's use dual channel not triple so I hear, though you might want to check that. :)

Buy a copy of Computer Shopper, they have a check-list section you can work through to help you choose items - and it's got the adverts for the items in there too!

As Nick says, HD capable gfx cards are really not hard to get, its the top spec games that need the most expensive cards! your rig would be more than adequate though.

Have a look at the below regards a Motherboard, buy that, similar or wait for the USB3 standard to become finalised/more commin before spending Big Bucks.

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/10/29/asus_superspeed_mobo/

D

CPU - i7 (or maybe wait for the i8)
Ram - Any decent low latency, minimum of 6Gb (3x2Gb) such as Corsair XMS3
Gfx - Depends on whether you want to go with a radeon card (crossfire but no puys-x yet) or nVidia (Sli) with Phys-x.
Case - Antec 900
PSU - OCZ or Corsair 1000w PSu (150 to 200 squids each but well worth it imho)

Ill happily write out a full list of things to get to put together... But I need to know what you want to spend and what you want to use it for. :)

If you've never built a PC before, then you could buy a 'Barebones' machine. All you have to do is choose a compatible processor, choose how big you hard drive needs to be, and what DVD/CD drive you're going to use.

It's a piece of cake to do, although barebones systems might limit the gaming capabilities, but it takes a lot of the confusion of what motherboard, PSU etc to choose.

Plus most barebones motherboards will have extra slots for a good graphics card
