Hi all,

I am a new SV rider, I passed my test last week and recently bought a nice shiny (but slightly intimidating) red SV 650 which will be restricted on Saturday and then I will be able to terrorise the streets of Guildford on my daily commute :smt077

I have joined the forum today to say hi to all the local peeps and, hopefully, meet up with some like minded people and go for a ride.

Welcome to the forum.

I'll be surprised if there are any rideouts planned for the next few months, but if it's dry and you want to go out on the bikes just drop us a PM or post a message here on the off chance I'm available. I'm pretty much always up for a ride somewhere when I'm not busy.

Welcome to the org. I go to ACM in guildford and work in the electric theatre behind the bar. You don't happen to ride along Onslow St and over Friary Bridge do you? I've seen a few SVs ride past there in the past week or two when at work and thought it may be someone from here...

Yeah I do, but as today was my first official commute on the SV that wasn't me! So you should see one more than usual today...

I work about 1 minute walk from the ACM :D

Oh right. What do you do?
I'll keep an eye out for you (pointy or curvy?). How are you finding the SV?

I work for an accountany firm - PKF

I have a 2000 curvy and I love it :smt054

When I first got on and started it up I freaked out a bit and thought I would never be able to handle it. But after 4 days already starting to feel more confident.

Its weird, but I feel alot safer and more stable on a bigger bike. I assumed it would be the opposite. My SV is much easier to ride at low speeds than my YBR. Plus having a decent headlight is nice now it gets dark early.

Another thing about having a new bike, everyone assumes its my man's bike. :hackedoff: When people first see us out and off the bikes they all say "Hey Jim - nice new bike" and they are suprised to find out its mine. Starting to p*** me off - us girls ride too! When we were both starting out, again, people always assumed I was his pillion, and were surprised to learn that I passed my CBT before him, bought my bike first, and got my full licence before he did!

In fact he is currently using my YBR (long story - his bike is crappy) so I have two motorbikes, and I'm female ;) (rant over.... :p).

Oh God, not another accountant

:pPlus having a decent headlight :laughat: I thought you had a curvy :D - wait til you try a decent headlight like a VFRmy man's
How to elate & disappoint a thousand men in 2 words :smt090

lol I never said i was an accountant - just that I work for an accountancy firm ;)

And ok, maybe decent wasn't the right choice of words given my extensive experience of motorbikes (one YBR and a 10 year old SV), but my SV lights are a vast improvement on the YBR.

Anyway - any local people fancy a mini relaxed ride over the weekend? It would be a pretty chilled out thing, I'm still getting used to the SV, I'm not fussed if its raining a little. I had to get my bike restricted last Saturday in that evil weather and had a trial by err... water :p

Maybe Boxhill for a coffee then off somewhere else... maybe some of you know some nice roads? If no, I will just be Billy No Mates and go play by myself.

Sorry, I'll stop posting here then

I'll be heading up to Boxhill on Sunday morning then, probably 10-11ish. If anyone want to join me feel free. If its raining a little - i'll still go, but if its chucking it down maybe not. There is only so much water my textiles will stop...

Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll hang around for you. I'll be fairly easy to spot - probably the only person there with a high vis jacket on (I know, I'm sooo uncool). And if you can't spot me just shout "Theres a red SV in the car park that has fallen over - whose is it" and watch me run to my bike :p

I'll probably be down Rykers for a late breakfast in the morning and a ride around for a couple of hours, if you're around come and say Hi, I'm the guy with the beard and stick, easy to spot or pm me for my mobile.

Cheers Mark.
