by a freeeeking BUS! :smt120

just moving off from traffic lights - bout 3 cars back (had been filtering) move into a gap in the right hand lane... next thing there is a massive big piece of metal pushing me sideways... thankfully was only going bout 10mph... it all happened so fast  i remember seeing bus just a tad too close and then i was stepping over the bike.. (bus had swerved to avoid shunting a BMW that just stopped for no reason!)

dont seem to be any damage to the bike but daylight may reveal more! i was amazed at the amount of people who came to assist.. wish i had been more "withit" and not shaking like a bloody leaf in a storm to says thanks :)

i was a bit shook up.. slight stiff arm and neck  dunno why...

needless to say the journey home was extremely slow and careful :D

thanks guys :) any damage will be covered by the bus company.. but as far as i can see nothing wrong.. the policeman that appeared from nowhere said to have the bike checked anyway incase there an underlying problem... pity the bike fell on the right side cos i coulda done with a new left fairing and clutch lever :-dd (self inflicted stupidity months ago)

as for confidence taking a knock... started bike and tried to put into gear with sidestand down when leaving... took me a while to figure out why it kept cutting out

Glad your ok my hubby was shunted from the 2nd lane to the 3rd on the motorway on our way back from the bulldog bash by a coach, i was riding behind him so had to hanker up, saw the coach just go into his lane no indication naff all. Luckily the motorway near to where we live wasnt that bad at the time so no damage done, but Lissa is right those buses / coaches are huge up close.
And the goverment want us to use the bus lanes

Scary Stuff........ glad you`re not badly hurt and hope there`s not too much damage to the bike when you have a good look.

had a look at the bike today... damage i can see :

badly bent brake lever and foot peg.
exhaust scratched (minor)
crashbung damaged
scratches on fairing - lower right side...

the only major issue i worried about is the back brake lever... cant reach it without having to twist my foot around

hopefully i wont have any issues off the bus company and they gonna pay for the repairs.. taking bike in tomorrow to have it checked over..

the joys of commuting!!! ........ endless :smt013

Single decker or double decker?

I fought a single decker and lost, although I'm still here to prove it. Happened when I was 13 :p

So there's at least 2 bus fighters on the Org

Glad you're ok

I had an open topped London sightseeing bus roll over the toe of my boot a few months back - decided he wanted to move into my space without checking to see if I had vacated it first!

Does that count as a bus fighter?

Lame...at least you're all good though. Enough worries in front of us, let alone having to worry about stupid things like shunts!!

Are you taking it to Road & Racing in Hyde ? Think they charge about £25 for a full check.

Where did it happen ?

Don't forget to get a new helmet out of the bus company if you fell over - not worth the risk!!!.

A colleague at work had to lay his bike down yesterday when a car pulled out without looking. Luckily on a bit of damage to bike and torn clothing. Loads of witnesses and driver apologised/took responsibility.

I had to remind him about the helmet, which apparently hit the deck.

Glad you are ok

Yes it counts, but the bus won by a pin down :p

Same happened to me, although I jumped off the bus, thank heavens for clarks shoes, otherwise it'd be a different story

lol - it sure did! The driver was apologetic though, I suppose he misjudged the gap.

I'm indebted to my Sidi's - I've had two major events now - one was a piece of metal flicked up by a vehicle in front that hit my foot, hurt like mad but no damage, and the bus sort of scuffed down the toecap to the side, but didn't do any permanent damage to my toes!

WRONG ANSWER . When any accident occurs , the tiniest scratch or damage to that bike was caused by that vehicle no matter how long ago it happened ;) . This is , of course , as long as it doesn`t push the cost into a write off situation . Didn`t the Bus hit you on the Left to make it fall onto the Right ? :smt077

Glad you are not wounded badly .
