View Full Version : The best £16-50 I ever spent
Had a manky broken molar pulled by the emergency dental clinic at 10-00 this morning, no more toothache and I think I may even get a decent night's sleep tonight.

Did it come with a sudden expulsion of pus or was it just an exposed nerve?
Your public need to know! :smt118
Glad you feel better now Honey.

Pleased to hear it, toothache doesn't often sound serious - 'til it's you that's suffering.

Just an exposed nerve thankfully
Glad you feel better now Honey.

Classic case of the NHS still ruling... I had exactly the same problem with a back tooth that kept giving me aggro, the dentist wanted several hundred quid to drill/fill/cap or whatever, someone tipped me off to the local hospital thing, popped in and 1/2 hour later came out minus £16 and the tooth, great result it's never played up since! Of course you can only do this so often...

I got into an NHS Dentists this year after having a similar pain . I`ve broken the following .
1 Vertebra
2 legs
2 shoulders
1 side of jaw
Multiple Ribs
Multiple Fingers
Multiple Toes
1 Ankle
Fractured Skull
Fractured Cheekbone
And NONE of them even rated anywhere near the pain that bloody tooth caused me . NHS Dentist took me in , £175 lighter I now have a porcelain tooth to replace that one that hurt me so much .

Standard Band 1 NHS charge from what I can gather. I attended the local emergency dental clinic and was seen within half an hour too. Not bad going, well done the NHS.

Teeth :)
I had a spot of root canal done a while back.
They try to kill the nerve by injecting lots of anaesthetic into it.
Then they try and lop up the blood with little tapered cardboardy bits.
Doesn't half make you sink your nails into the arm rests when they jab that raw bloody still alive nerve with the cardboardy bit ;)

I had a Root Canal done as well , they killed the nerve then filed out the pulp , then filled it with rubber Tapers and treated it with some sort of heat gun to seal it over . Watch it on youtube , fascinating in a morbid kind of way

.......came out minus £16 and the tooth..........it's never played up since!
Funny, that!
I've just signed up to complete treatment to the cost of £495 for root canal, fill and gold crown because of my tooth ache two weeks ago. Mrs Ratty had me drugged up so much I didn't know what day it was. :( Should have just had it pulled me thinks.

They cant pull mine, roots look like christmas trees on the x rays. Dentist reckons they'd have to make huge big holes in me gums and jaw bone to get 'em out so cheaper to do the crown thing. I got away with a lot less than that though. Huge lump of gold an all :)
Edit: Just looked; £175. Was in 2002 though (how time flies...).
