Started working in Paisley today and it took 2 and a half hours from Carnoustie to get there :(
Can anyone local recommend a route to dodge the roadworks?

No idea where the roads works are but two n half hours from one to other aint that bad at rush hour. If you try to avoid going through Glasgow, either south to East Kilbride then west or over Kingston bridge I suspect it may take even longer

google map says it should take 2 1/4 hours so 2 1/2 doesn't sound to bad normally i would avoid the forth road bridge and go the kincardine bridge and down through the m80 but the m8 sounds the better move the now.

either way your screwed mateO:)

2 1/2 hours isn't too bad. when i travelled to Bearden area a few years ago regularly to take my dog to the vet hospital it used to take about the same time.

If you're talking about the M80 roadworks between Stepps and Haggs then you've got two basic choices; Forth Bridge/M8 or cross country through Kilsyth/Kirky/Lenzie. Neither of them will be any faster.

Basically mate that journey is just one big sh*t sandwich and you're going to have to take a bite.

Seriously, probably better going towards Stiling then over back roads towards erskine bridge.

here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Carnoustie,+Angus,+UK&daddr=A84+to:56.179961,-4.223557+to:Paisley&geocode=FSorXgMd3cXW_ynN8HWueF-GSDEYFZvappNHXg%3BFQaoWAMd1iDD_w%3B%3BFSUiVAMdTIC8 _ykxZdMtwUiISDFHOHCphSzv5g&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=2&sz=12&via=1,2&sll=56.189705,-4.093437&sspn=0.085777,0.307274&ie=UTF8&ll=56.081807,-4.32312&spn=0.086018,0.307274&t=h&z=12)

It looks about an extra 25mins but depending on time of day and vechile i.e. bike might be enjoyable route, if only beter than motorway and sitting in loads of traffic.

I've only got two months of traveling the opposite direction to go, whey hey

Well thanks for the suggestions folks. But I've been taken off the job today thank fook :D Someone up there must not hate me as much as the rest. Don't think I could have taken much more of getting up at 5.30am, getting home at 7.30pm and getting paid 8 hours

M80 is a nightmare just now, new M74 will be good at easing the flow throgh the city centre. M80 should be an improvemet but it's a bit of a p1sstake just now.

I always head through Kirkintilloch to join the M80 further up if I can.

Rutherglen is handy for skirting around to the South Side and Possil is great for skirting around the North side

Its ridiculous really and the speed limit is enforced 24hrs a day too not just to protect a workforce.
The M74 is flying up all over the place it's amazing what paying them bonuses for being on target achieves whilst also ridiculous for having to do so!

Don't worry, they'll just finish them and then start on the new Forth crossing

I work in Linwood. Live 25miles away in Hamilton, but I still get up at 5am each day so I can leave the house at 6, to be in at work for 6:45. And I don't have to start until 8am....

If I don't leave the house no later than 6:05am, then just getting to Linwood makes me want to slit my wrists and want to shoot other motorists for driving like half awake not a clue learners, the traffic gets so busy and bad.... The M77 at 6:20am going uptowards Ibrox is a complete joke. At 7am to 9:30 it's just a car park....

That's why too I work from 7am to 7pm each day - just to avoid the traffic jams.. Thank god I'm not married or the wife would want a divorce due to me not spending enough time with her

I'm quite fortunate in that I live in town and work in suburbia so I skirt around the edge of town and do the busy commuter route in reverse.

My dad works in Linwood

Started working in Paisley today

Are you certain that's a good idea? Do you think it will catch on?
