Was that due to a crash or what caused the crash?
Was that due to a crash or what caused the crash?
This is, of course, the pertinent question. I'd say there are far more people that have crashed, snapped their wheels and then blamed the crash on the wheels, than there are people who's wheels have failed in use.
That Ducati, however, has some exceptional bling on it. I'm sure it'll be lovely but to some extent it'll have more changed than you can on a WSB (frame). Not sure I'd have gone quite that far however deep my pockets. Lovely looking components though!

So they added $100k spend?
Madness.

There's two separate bikes there, the front wheel went under braking the first example and the rear wheel went under acceleration in the second, both times the wheel failure caused the crash, not the other way round
There was a very in depth discussion with a lot of people, and some input from proper materials engineers on the KTM RC8 forum, put it this way, the folks who know how CF works, how strong it is and how it tends to fail weren't interested in fitting them to their bikes...
The problem isn't so much BST themselves but the inherent nature of CF - you can structurally damage the laminate without it being visible, stress it by trying to decelerate 300kg of rider and bike on the track and it can fail unexpectedly and catastrophically, as shown above
Tasty bike though, can't see it getting thrashed round a track with all that bling unless the guy is seriously minted:D
