As your leader (who - me? :smt105 ) I think we should definitely have a get together before Christmas - even if no-one comes I am at least going to go on my own :p

In all seriousness I propose we meet up at Southwold pier (http://www.southwoldpier.co.uk) as its not a million miles from me and I know there are a couple of other EAR-ers who arent too far away either. It has a warm cafe that serves basic food and drink so we can have a small bite at lunchtime and a natter and hopefully a few photos in front of the pier itself.

Bearing in mind the date is pretty close to the shortest day of the year I think midday is a good time to meet as it gives time for any morning frost to melt (hopefully) and also gives us all a chance to get home in the daylight.

So there it is - come or don't - up to you - but I will be there :queen:

Would love to come but my bikes not on the road at the moment (apologies for my absence but ive moved house and its taken an eternity to get my internet up and running!!).

Not sure if or when it will be back in action, cos firstly the rear tyre needed replacing about 500 miles ago, and secondly many things are up in the air at the moment (finances and love life mainly :-() so im not sure whether the bike and i even have a future, and that is just sooooo crap, but then i guess thats life, you just think youve got it all sorted and before you know it everythings back in turmoil again.

In the meantime i'll still be popping my head around the forum 'door' to see whats going on and hopefully be back in the saddle soon. Take care of yourselves in the meantime xxx

Sorry to hear all is not well with you at the mo KJ.

I'm sure all will sort itself out given time.

I know it may be very difficult financially but having a bike so you can grab a few hours out on it, and leave all your troubles behind, is wonderful therapy.

Anyway, don't be a stranger on here. :grouphug:

Sod it, I've realised I'm out the night before and staying away, funnily enough in BSE! I don't think I'm gonna get back home to take the bike. I might however come with wifey in the car as Southwold pier is one of our favourite places.

Well despite a last minute hitch, ie my wife swaping her shifts, so that now she's working on Sunday :smt009

But Mother in Law is going to give the kids lunch :smt041 So unless it's really bad, I'll be there.

Even if I have to go in my Zafira :D

Maybe not for long, as I don't want to impose on the MIL for too long.

But I must obey my leader

The roads will be wet but the sky is nice and clear here in Wymondham :)

Fingers crossed and see you at 12

If it doesn't rain should I ignore the cold and wear my leathers of stick to the thermal textiles? Life throws up these tough decisions!

maviczap
13-12-09, 09:01 AM
Thermals, thermals and more thermals :p

svrich

Back home safe - have to say even though the weather was not really on our side I really enjoyed my wet and cold (well it would be if I didn't have toasty textiles on!) 80 mile ride to Southwold and back :D

Great to catch up with Rich and Rich too :)

Just the one picture of the bikes at the pier and a picture of the rather rough-ish sea!

Cheers Skip. It was good to ride somewhere that wasn't work! And we all had SV's this time ;) Shall we start organising another gathering for Spring?

Well, one tank of fuel & one can of WD40 later, I enjoyed the ride home more than the ride there, less rain and both cyclinders firing properly.

Thanks for the Hot Chocolates Skip & Rich, its my round next time.

Hands and feet were cold, but other than that I enjoyed myself.

Nice to see a 100% Sv turnout

If your boots aren't 100% waterproof, then these are a good choice, if you can't afford another pair

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALSKINZ-Waterproof-Socks-Mid-Length-seal-skin-BEST_W0QQitemZ300374218740QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMen_s _Clothes?var=&hash=item8bb2cfa52d

Pity I could only find one of my pair . Rictus posted another ebay link to army surplus Gortex boot liners at £6.99 which would do the same thing

Shall we start organising another gathering for Spring?

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!!

Apparently i've been such a good girl this year and sat so nicely on Santa's knee, ;-), that he's decided to bring me a beautiful new rear BT021 for christmas, yay!! :-)

So that leaves me in the position of having just serviced the bike, replaced c&s and having yummy new tyres, which means that as long as the kids dont mind walking to school as their new years resolution (it'll do 'em good!), and i keep car petrol consumption to an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM, and nothing goes horribly wrong with the bike, then i should be able to keep it on the road and might, occasionally, manage to put the odd gallon of petrol in it :smt041
my mileage will be drastically reduced, but anythings better than nothing, so im afraid you're not quite rid of me yet, sorry guys :-)

maviczap

It wasn't the same without you

Mind you Peterburg to Southwold would have been a bit nippy today, that's for sure

I like the fact that the only way you can get 100% sv turnout is to get a total of 3 riders ;)

Ill be up for a rideout in the spring too :)

maviczap
13-12-09, 06:20 PM
I'm getting concerned about numbers already for the spring rideout

We might get 5 and then we'll have to think about restricting numbers, which might mean no Red Triumph's ;)

will do as soon as there is a fairing on it.
Just paid next to nothing on it as it was in the shop for 3 years waiting for the owner to come back for it after having work done he obviously couldnt afford ;)
I said to the shop that if they apply for the v5 I would buy it from them to cover the costs of the work done.

1800 quid later I have a 748s :)
Not a bad track toy.
Just a shame its italian though (at least most of the electrics are removed though ;) )
