View Full Version : Skydiving!
Hey orgers,
any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. So my gf's birthday is in March, and I'm looking to take her skydiving. I've slipped it in convo's before, and she says she'd be up for it. I reckon it would be a great thing to do, and defo something she wouldn't forget. Nice early planning with these things usually works best, so I guess that's why I'm mentioning it now.
I've never been myself, so don't really know much about it.
Has anyone here thats been skydiving got any tips/recommendations. Good prices perhaps, and notable trustworthy places to go in the London area?
Thanks:)

do the full course instead of a one off tandem.
jumping for yourself is so much fun.
As for costs location no can help. I used to do mine in the 80s at Flookburgh which is a long way from London
You'll **** yourself for the first 4 seconds....
you'll say Thank fook for that.....
You'll not want to do it again....... BUT DO IT.
You'll hate yourself for doing it again...
as you know what's hapining....
You'll enjoy the calm decent after the Thank FOOK for that moment...
You will be a slight nervious... on your 3rd Jump..
But will be in control... and things will get Better.. "A Lot"
4th Jump...
FANTASTIC......
5th Jump
YOUR A JUMPING GOD....
6th... Lets go Higher
and it continues....
hope this helps....
flippin heck that sounds awesome. I know once I start I'll be hooked!
It is Great... after the third jump... Believe me...
don't leave the jumps between intervals also... as too long fear will get to you... Or your a Sky Diving God
the stuff called adrenallin... Is Brill, and will have you buzzing for hour's.
Do not leave it too long, as my mate went off for a day to "The Calgary Stampp'ed" as we spent another day jumping out of the ground based model but air based platform to throw ourself out off.
When He came back he was altered... I don't know how but slightly dirrerant.....
so he lost is mogo shall we say.... But please please do it...
It's Fooking Fantastic.
then every now and again you can drop into a conversation...
"I've took off in so many aircraft... But only landed in this many.. Go Figure?.."
"I've took off in so many aircraft... But only landed in this many.. Go Figure?.."
i like that!...
Oh I'm defo doing it, its just a question of wether my gf goes through with or not. Either way its gonna happen.
Out of curiosity, when your hurl out of the plane, du get that stomach feeling you get on a rollercoaster, or is it unexplainable?
you do not hurl your self out of the plane... you gently extract yourself out of there...
no.. as the fist time you'll be in ZOMBI mode...
you will be dope on a rope.
when you look up.. and see the Square apron coming toward you ..and then the open para-shoot above...
You will swear.. and it will be Fantastic.
I think It's like losing your virginity all over again.. Yes thats whats it's like.
dont listen to richie, I did a tandem jump about 3 years ago and still have nightmares about it. I hated it from start to finish and will never ever ever do it again. Easier ways to get rid of gfs these days, you dont have to push them out of planes lol. I did my jump somewhere near Oxford. I raised £450 for cancer research and got the jump free

I wouldn't write off tandem. Sure, you don't jump yourself, but you do get much longer freefall which the best bit :D
Whichever avenue you go down, tandem or solo, I think you will be very chuffed.
I did a 15 jump course years ago when I was in the RAF and it certainly is an experience never to forget.
At one point I was sat at the door while the plane banked steeply to turn and come back along the same line. I was bricking myself as I thought I was going to fall out. Then it dawned on me that, hang on a minute, when this plane levels out I will be jumping out of the bl00dy thing.
I have to say that if I were to do something similar again I would do more than one jump. OK, the tandem is higher but the freedom of being solo can't be beaten..

Ive always wanted to do this too just never pulled my finer out and got round to it.
I poo myself jumping off the top board at the local swimming pool but as soon as i resurface i wanna run up and do it again. I can imagine jumping out a plane will be the same emotion but magnified by about 5million times!

i've done a solo jump and it is one of the best things i have ever done (other than marraige and kids of course)
the adrenalin rush is amazing especially if you are first to jump - you don't have too much time to worry then.
this threads been a great reinforcement. But everywhere I'm looking its about £200 per head for one jump! Add the gf to that, and that's a whopping £400 (not so cheap for a uni student may I add).
Incidentally, to obtain a full license (which is around 8 jumps or something) costs about £800..then apparently once you're fully licensed, jumps can go down to about £13!! Thats incredible.
Might be tempted to scrap the idea and buy the gf a pretty dress or sumin, lol. She'd bottle it anyway. That way I haven't spent half the dosh of a full license on two one offs!...
but then again why would I want a full license anyway? Would I really go skydiving that often?...tough choice, and the gf does claim she'd go thru with it, so I'm prob being a bit tight! Ah I duno...y so expensive dammit
join the army / raf / navy then you could do it every year for freeish ....
adventure training package £10 4 days, 10 jumps weather permiting.
