I'm thinking of getting a cheapish acoustic guitar, so I have something to do at uni while I'm on lunch or a break or just waiting 20 minutes until I need to add another chemical.

Because I listen to alot of heavy stuff, there isn't alot of this music I can play on an acoustic gutiar and it'll still sound nice. There are some metallica things that I like to play clean (parts fro "to live is to die", "fade to black", that kinda thing) but I would like to learn some songs good on acoustic. Technical is nice, but lets not forget sometimes its nice to keep things simple aswell

Its also better if thre are little or no lyrics

So, whats your favorite "clean" song - one with little or no distorted, dirty, heavy guitar :D You might provide me with inspiration to learn something new :)

I cross it with the NIN version on electric guitar , it has a very haunting and disturbing sound to the NIN version of the main riff ......... Johnny`s version has slightly cleaner Lyrics , but I agree , when you understand what the song is about , the words can be very powerful .

OK- Howzabout-

Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here (you don't have to sing as well!).
Pink Floyd- Is There Anybody Out There

Good ones for getting the pedal bass notes in (if you can find the tab)-

The Beatles- Dear Prudence
Fleetwood Mac- Never Going Back Again (again- don't need the vox- lots to learn on the guitar)
Fleetwood Mac- Big Love (the newer arrangement Lyndsay Buckingham did on acoustic guitar- good skills if you can get the hang of this one!)
Fleetwood Mac- Man of the World
Fleetwood Mac- Albatross (Ok- you may need 2 more guitarists for this one!)

Metallica- Good time to practice Call of Ktulu!

Wishbone Ash- Throw Down the Sword (great dual guitar intro that can just about be played on one)
Wishbone Ash- The King Will Come - loads of great riffs to learn here- good for an acoustic!
Wishbone Ash- Blowin' Free

Led Zeppelin- Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Led Zeppelin- Black Mountain Side (and White Summer)- great indo-celtic acousticness jamming

Or check out some Gabriela Y Rodrigo for some sweet latin guitar- they had a tutorial dvd on one of their albums (called Gabriela Y Rodrigo)- shows you how to add all the percussion and play one of their songs.

Oh- and they're big metalheads too- including a Latin acoustic version of Orion! And a great version of Stairway to Heaven

So. Anyway. I want perfectly performed versions of all those songs by the end of next week- or I'll be entering you for next year's X Factor.

Anything classic by Bob Marley. Redemption Song is one ive heard played on a beach late at night many times and every time i hear it now it reminds me of sitting on a beach with a huge roaring fire...off my nut :)

Why is you typing and not practicing, dammit?

Get yowass over to the guitars now and play until dem fingers blEEEEEEEEeed!

I'm playing a new song in the band at the 1st fret on the bass- I fear too much practice of that may shave the skin off my index finger!

Look up the Rodrigo lessons on YouTube- they're bound to be there. Make it look much easier than it sounds!
