Installed accelarator pump on power commander and it's great makes the ZX6R much smoother and power across the board.

Accelerator pump on EFI? You been supping the brake cleaner or something?

Agreed. And I'd like to know how an 'accelerator pump', which is a throttle transition device, can cause it to make more power everywhere

Yeah cheers guys, i've been a member of this forum for a while and most of the time you get good good responces to your questions regardless if it's an SV or ZX, obviously not this time.

I was only saying it makes the bike feel a little more responsive, with less dead spots.

So anyone that has a power commander should try it.

Don't be sensitive, if you say something daft of course we're going to giggle.

An accelerator pump is something you get on non-CV type carburettors to avoid bogging down when the throttle is opened rapidly.

So care to elaborate? Is it some setting which makes it dump a little more fuel in when you open the taps or what?

Ok, basicly it's a piece of software that you attach to the power commander software and yes it dumps a little more fuel, you can increase throttle responce, fuel intake in % and revolutions.

Sorry about rant, it's cos I never thought of this forum as being a bitchy forum.

Ah! It wasn't you talking balls then, it was some boswallox marketing from dynojet! (who'd have thought it?)

I think they need to go back to school. Surely the only point of purchasing a PC is to change the AF ratio under different conditions, I don't think software to let you change that is a particularly new idea!

That download will be user interface to change the map (as designed...) without being so messy.

Car EFI systems use a "transient enrichment" function to match fuelling to air flow during transients when opening the throttle.

The algorithms used depend on the air flow sensing system. A typical car intake with a manifold/plenum and a single upstream mass airflow meter will experience a delay between opening the throttle and the air going in through the meter to fill the plenum, the plenum pressure increasing and then the air finally reaching the cylinders so needing the appropriate fuelling. This transport delay is allowed for by calibration of the system, taking throttle position sensor changes and airmeter output changes into account.
Speed/density generally isn't used these days on cars, it can't sense differences in the gasflow system (airfilters/exhaust backpressure etc).

I don't know the fine details of EFI sytems as used on bikes, but some sort of transient enrichment function will be almost certainly be incorporated into the calibration software, and I guess the aftermarket tweaking simply changes some of the coefficients and almost inevitably just increases the transient enrichment. Manufacturers will minimise enrichment, using just enough to maintain satisfactory response and avoid lean misfires to keep HC emissions down, the effects on overall real world economy will probably be pretty trivial. It wouldn't surprise me if you find response and rideability to improve with more enrichment than they give you out of the factory.

Good answer embee and pretty much what I was going to write. I can understand why the OP felt he had be bitch slapped! He was only reporting the news from Dynojet, whatever anyone thinks of them.
