sorry, i'm sure there will be a thread about this somewhere, but i've done a search and can't find anything. right, here we go! recently did the annual task of spraying my k3 with acf50 for the winter salt, and ended up getting some on my rear tyre, very silly. anybody know what i can use to de grease and clean my tyre as its worrying me a little. cheers.

If it's in the centre, I'd use fairy liquid and give it a scrub then risk it . If it's on the edges - I don't dare advise you, sorry.

if washing up liquid ect fails then try rubbing it off with sand paper........ but dont cheat on your chicken strips! ;)

I always opt for brake and clutch cleaner if I get greasy shtuff on tyres, seems to work well and never had an issue - might be really bad thing to put on rubber, but it works for me - in fact, it makes VERY light work of cleaning exhausts and swingarms too. :)

How much? If it's only a few drops then just ride it. Couple of miles and it will be gone. Go steady, it is very slippy.

N.B ACF50 takes longer than fork oil to burn off your brakes!

thanks for the tips lads.yorkie, yes its only a few drops, on the side walls mainly, where it as spun of the wheel. boot, i like the idea of brake cleaner! iv'e got some muc off brake cleaner, can smell acetone in it, but there are quite a few rubber bits on brake calipers and it does not seem to harm them. i'll give it a go, then a good wash and scrub with fairy liquid or stardrops then rinse it. once again thanks to you all. have a good christmas.

I think you'll do more harm with harsh solvents and soap than the ACF will do ya

yea you may be right chris, sprayed the bike on friday then went for a bit of a ride on saturday, it was dry on the outward journey, but when we set off for the return journey everything had cooled down. engine tyres etc, it had started to rain, the temp had dropped a lot and a couples of minutes into the ride my back end fishtailed under engine braking. it may have just been the riding conditions and i.m just being paranoid. my tyres are pretty new avon storms and i've not had that problem before.

I'd think so too (although wouldn't have thought a light dose of fairy , promptly washed off after would do any harm)
a couples of minutes into the ride my back end fishtailed under engine braking. .
For the first time ever (probably not trying hard enough) I had the back wheel spin up in the wet the other day under acceleration, it's an odd feeling. I didn't expect it though as the tyres had, had a good 30 minutes of fair paced riding.

ha, maybe i should have explained better, i was hardly moving when the fishtail happened. thats what i meant when i said its not happened before. i use the sv's engine braking to slow me down at a faster pace, rather than using the brakes all the time, thats a expected fishtail and i'm ready for it. but i was not ready for this one.

ah I see, slow speed the back end only usually fishtails under (rear) braking

Quiet, Kevo!
Or everyone will be doing it to practice for the ice that's on its way.
PLEASE don't take me seriously. ;)

i had that (before my off) but my tires were cold still looked good coming off the island by my collage with the back spinning all the way up the road

and if your that worried the i would use a bit of sand paper

what would you normally put ACF50 on?

Could you use it on your visor?

You could but I don't really worry too much about corrosion of polycarbonate :-P

If you don't like being able to see :).

Put it anywhere you think might be susceptible to rust and/or corrosion, but nowhere that might interfere with bits that require an absence of lubrication, brakes etc.

If you want to keep your visor clear, try something like Nikwax Visor Proof.

i use acf50 all year round keeps the bike rust free and on a sv everything rusts!
as far as getting on the tyre take it carefully for a few miles then it should of burnt off, if its not on the centre part weave to make sure its off so you dont loose it on a corner.

well once again thanks for your tips, the common one seems to be to just ride and take it easy, and do a bit of weaving. like scrubbing a tyre in really. i'll give it a once over with a strong solution of fairy and a good rinse to get rid of any residue.
thanks lads.
