I was chatting to a radical owner at one of the le mans series meets and he had some reverse box fitted to a 'busa engine, not hard apparently.

You can just put a starter motor in to act as a reverse

smart cars are :toss: my neice had a 04 model and it leaked in more than the titanic, the boots tiny, the tyres are odd sizes hence very expencive both the front springs snapped, the build quality was just rubbiish.
