Just paid a deposit on something to keep the SV company in the garage! :D

Will collect it this week

Thanks for xXBadgerXx for all the information about the bike and the seller, that made the sale a less stressful experience.

Will be kitting it out with hard panniers and a top box, and taking it down to Portugal via the Plymouth - Santander ferry in around March time and doing a few days riding mountain trails with a mate. Plan to make that at least an annual trip, if not twice a year. Otherwise it's going to be my everyday bike for commuting and trips into town and perhaps some light green-laning.

It's a 2002 XT600E on a 52 plate, with 8300 miles on the clock and FSH.

I nearly fell off my chair when you mailed me asking if I knew the bike locally ............... Know it , it parks next to mine sometimes and the guy works with me as well . The power of the Org eh . Seriously considered this myself but could not justify it . Glad you are sorted on it . Shame you have to pick it up , I was hoping you were gonna ask me to ride it over for you ;) .

Enjoy it Col , it`s in bloody good nick and a nice looking bike .

Just got home from picking it up from Rhyl. Down the M6 in -2 degrees, brrrr. Not too bad actually, trackkie bottoms and two fleeces under my winter textiles so I was toasty other than my hands.

Bike rides like brand new, as you'd expect of an 8000 mile bike, but not as you'd expect from a bike that is 7 1/2 years old! If it wasn't for the 52 plate, you'd think it was 2 or 3 years old. I'll have no qualms whatsoever about taking it to Portugal, it's in great condition. Paid £1500 quid for it! Bargain!

Dead comfy too, wide deep saddle, 140 miles to get home and I only stopped after 120 miles at Hilton Park Services to get fuel because I wasn't sure of the bikes range, and didn't fancy having to fiddle with an unfamiliar fuel tap in the fast lane of the motorway. Had planned to stop after the first 100 miles at Stafford services, but wasn't worried about fuel at that point and other than cold hands I was comfortable, so I just carried on. I think it might actually have had a gel saddle fitted at some point 'cos that's how it feels when you press the seat down.

Engine is happy cruising at up to about 80mph, after that feels like your pushing it, but you wouldn't want to go much faster on a naked bike.
