Where and when?
sounds a good laugh but you know what this lot are like like organising cats
Where and when?
well that's the discussion...
who?
where?
when?
Ecosse.
Aberdeen.
Every weekend :)
Naaa I duno, us spearies aren't getting a Xmas Do :(
Probably for Eastie's and Westies, Glasgow/Stirling/'Burgh.
Before Xmas.
Seee sorted :)
ok i've gone and broken a trend of a lifetime and actually had an idea..
all we would need to actually make this work ooohhh cat people, is a dedicated driver/car from each area to put their hand up and say 'i'll do it, i'll stay sober and pick people up and drop them off' (this could be a meeting point or direct to everyone's home.
so we have:
Area for venue:
Edinburgh
Attendees:
Bibio (DD)
Dedicated Drivers:
Bibio (Fife)
Date:
20-12-09

Milky Bar Kid

I am working I am afraid.
the date does not have to be the 20th it could be another date peeps.. ok so 2morra night is a bit soon. lol
Tiger 55
15-12-09, 05:46 PM
Working on the 20th :(
22nd? 30th? Go on...
I can't stay sober and drive, I just can't but it don't even matter. If it's in Edinburgh, Mr Stephenson has proposed a connected series of vehicles for the general public that move along a permanent way to transport passengers from one place to another. He intends to call it a 'train' and the last one back to Glasgow will leave at 23:30. I'll definitely be drunk by then and so will all the other Weegies, so that's us sorted.
Capital idea by the way. :smt023
so we have:
Area for venue:
Edinburgh
Attendees:
Bibio (DD)
Tiger 55?
Kilted Ginger
Dedicated Drivers:
Bibio (Fifers)
Mr Train Driver (weegies)
Date:
20-12-09
22 / 30-12-09 although 30th would be shakehugandsnog night
are you lot getting the idea now???
Isn't the shake and hugs day the 31st?
Unless I missed a point again...
Tiger 55
15-12-09, 07:11 PM

Edinburgh mate, every day is shake, hug and, crucially, snog day. You'd like it.

Technically it's January 1st ;)
:smt105 reminds oneself there are 31 days in December..
yes i'm a fool and i deserve snickers thrown at me by a big black dude with lots of gold round his neck.
the 30th would be better for me...
:)
so there seems to be some interest so:

looks much like the 30th in Edinburgh then
Area: i would say Newington/Southside or West End/Rose Street.
Rose Street or anywhere in stumbling vacinity of Waverly or Haymarket. :)
I would have went, but the 30th is a bit too close to the 31st and the 31st is the start of a three day bender and my liver cant take a four day bender as I'm getting past it . :smt030

Me too Pete!:smt114x
meeting points (you lot decide):
Black Bull Tavern, Carlton Road (back entrance to Waverley)
The Cafe Royal, West Register Street (across from Waverley main Princess Street entrance)
The Standing Order Wetherspoons, George/Rose Street (roughly about the middle of George Street or Rose Street Lane North)
arrival time: i was thinking about 7'ish.
the idea is to 'crawl' along rose street heading towards haymarket station hopefully arriving at about 11:15pm
the standing order gets my vote...
Why 'spoons? don't line Tim Martins pocket any more than you have to
its cheap for a reason and the food well you wouldn't want to see it delivered
*hangs head*
and wanders back to the corner

I didnt think we were eating... I really dont mind where we go. Just thought the Standing Order was pretty central for everyone.

nowt wrong with 'spoons'. have you seen the food getting delivered to M&S, ASDA, MacDonalds and places like that?
yes it's cheep but you dont see anyone else dropping their prices to accommodate the market.

Sowwy. :smt105
dont think we have time to eat anyway. 4 hours then home.:smt030
standing order is not that central considering most peeps will be coming on the train anyway. i was going to sugest the cafe royal but i'm a snob at heart.
oooooorrrrrrrrr we could just stick to one pub which is less of a hassle.
black bull used to be a 'gothy/biker' pub and is within EASY walking distance of the waverley. its also about 2 minuets from the omni centre.
there are loads of pubs within easy walking distance to the waverley including cockburn street 'folk pubs', blair street 'cafe/weird pub', the royal mile inc the famous 'worlds end'. so as you can see it depends what we want to do on the night.
me i dont care i just want to go out for a night and get a little drunk.

I've been into the Black Bull once, and I didnt particularly like it, felt a bit out of place. Saying that I'll just follow the crowd, if that is where folks want to go. I am inclined to think that stayin in one place would be easier than trying to go from place to place, by the time you round people up and move on and convince the door staff to let you in
you can easily waste a good half an hour if not more.
I dont think I've ever been to the Cafe Royal, or the Worlds End so can't comment.

Black Bull used to be a fairly regular haunt back in the days when I worked in the St James centre - there and the Conan Doyle round the back on York Place.
Either or would be a good place to start - although I doubt I'd be able to make it anyway!

To hang with biker/goth pub. Black bull is awful and the beer is crap. Standing order is ok. Cafe royal much better. Best pub in town by a country mile us teuchters in William street opposite berts bar William st. Also close to waverly. Equally the Cambridge bar is excellent. Two bars on Morrison street are excellent but forgot the name.

Depending on how stupid I feel and accomodation availability I may come for a dram or ten.-------------Have you settled on a venue yet?

you are more than welcome m8, but all that way just to have a dram or 10 with a handful of folk for 4 hours is some going. another thing is at this time of year accommodation in edinburgh is almost non existent.
the venue is looking likely to be The Cafe Royal.:smt030

Regrettably due to the weather between here and there I will not be able to make it but have a good night out and thanks KG for the offer. I just can't warrant the driving through snow as it makes the journey much more tedious.--------Sorry folks
I'm still hoping to be there - but as always it's baby sitter dependant. *sigh*

Hey Guys,
Me & Wendy got home just after 11. Didn't have to wait too long for trains etc and had a mega fish supper in Glasgow on the walk from Queens St to Central Station. It was nice to see you all (all?). Don't get a complex Stu, me & Wendy were about to leave as you arrived.....PROMISE!
We had a cool day in Edinburgh. 7 hours of wandering, eating and drinking before going round to Cafe Royal for a few beers with the guys. Got home, walked the dog and straight to bed. A cool but knackering day.
Hope everyone has a good night tonight and may your Jan 1st hangovers be teensy weensy ones.
Fred
had a great time, thanks peeps. missed the kirkcaldy train by a minuet or so, had to get the glenrothes one that stops at every little village on the way. 'scary driving mum' picked me up at station, that was fun in itself.
KG, typical taxi driver.. you must have been knackered by the time you got home.
have a Happy New Year everyone. may 2010 be a prosperous one with good health. <shakes everyone's hands and kisses them><then brakes out into 'auld lang syne'>

Glad you guys had a good night :)

Hey,
I am heading off to the Chaos Wastes tomorrow... well, Wales anyway.
I will also be traveling up to Nottingham for a gathering of the Games Workshop clan. I will attempt to smuggle back some new goodies if the opportunity presents itself!
