On my way back from Scouseland on Friday I was listening to the guy from 'Money saving expert' website on the radio.

He was saying that it's a good time to switch gas & electric. I just did a comparisson on 2 sites and I'll save £189 on my current surplier. Plus I'll get £30 cashback for switching, so £210 saved.

Now he did say that prices could drop even more, but they could also stay the same.

If you haven't compared your current gas & electric for a while, it might be a good time to check it.

I thought I was on a good deal, but obviously I wasn't

I'm due to do this soon, as we've just moved in to our new house, and want the cheapest tariff.

I just had a 450 quid bill from southern electric, they've cocked up a huge amount of times, in fact on every bill I've had. So I'm off. Looks like British gas are best for me at the moment

Time to switch surpliers then chap

But BG is the cheapest major surplier on the comparrison. But you're probably on a different tariff, as the one I've signed up to is new, and probably for new customers.

If it's a tied in deal, it'll be for 12months I think, so in 12 months time I can look around for another deal. But I'm saving, so that's ok.

Watchdog pointed out there is faff all between the lot of them.
I've been with BG for ages, went to their website and found I could save 6% on both gas and leccy just by ticking a box, then some more by going online billing.
Shame they don't exactly shout about their cheaper tarrifs.

Its not in their business model to give money away, in fact quite the opposite

The guy i work with uses this one http://www.switchgasandelectric.com/?utm_source=Yahoo&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=RedHot&OVRAW=energy%20supply&OVKEY=gas%20supplier&OVMTC=advanced&OVADID=39584178531&OVKWID=260487862031

Apperently it was set up by the government & you can either just use them when you want to switch or you can pay a one off small fee for lifetime membership & they contact you to advise of best deals as & when.

Doesn't give you an online quote, someone has to call you, which I don't particularly want. But if they call you to advise you of a cheaper deal later on, then perhaps its worth it

Money saving expert website is the dogs dangles for this type of stuff. Saved me £1000's over the years. In October I looked and the recommendation was to use uswitch. Saved me about £200 a year by moving from Scottish Power to EDF, and uswitch gave me a case of 12 bottles of wine for using their switching service. They just arrived last week - all set for Crimbo!

Also used MSE website to save £80 on car insurance renewal last week.
