View Full Version : JB Weld
Anyone know a place to buy JB weld other than small motorfactors? Having a bit of trouble locating it, and could use some for an engine-case repair.
we use this stuff (http://www.3m.com/ewood/thortex/)at work... pretty dam good when used correctly.
When I bought RectorSeal for my radiator repair, guy told me someone had used the stuff to repair a crack in a sump on his van a few years ago and has never had an issue.

ant,
Thanks guys, ended up buying a metal epoxy putty similar to the one that Boot posted about. Not quite the same stuff, and doesn't look to be quite as durable (only temp. resistant to 350F, not 500F), but it's only got to last until another cover turns up from Ebay (hopefully midweek).
It's currently curing at the moment.
Cheers
Allow it much longer than it says. :)
I'm doing it in two stages...I put on massive, huge amounts earlier while I was getting the casing back into shape which I'm now sanding back down, and then I'm going to reapply another layer over the top on the outside to completely cover the cracks. It's then going to be left in the airing cupboard overnight. It apparently fully cures in an hour, but I left a test-blob for 3 hours and it was only just hard enough to resist a nail being pushed hard into it. Figure leaving it in the warm overnight will make it all peachy.
