View Full Version : Blackberry
Got a 2nd hand blackberry. I've unlocked it from Vodafone & am now using a 3 simcard.
Can anyone help me set it up please?
Is it possible to use Gmail as the mail service so that you are notified of new emails?
I can use the internet & go on the mobile gmail site fine, but would prefer to use it properly.
Many thanks
Left hand button to get the full menu ... option near the bottom called setup .... can get email notifications, etc ....
Your easiest way is to go to 'setup wizard' and it'll walk you through it .... simples :-)
It's a Bold by the way 9000
OK I'm in email setup option
only option is "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server"
so Next
Has your BB Ent Server administratior provided you with an Enterprise Activation password
wtf?
Can you see Setup wizard ??... should be an option right after 'setup'
If you want gmail updates I think the android phones are what you need.
I know you can use blackberry service with a corporate Blackberry enterprise server (BES) or a hosted one like on t-mobile. Each handset is registered against the BES hence the activation PIN
I'm pretty sure the blackberry servers are propietary

Can't you 'Push' your gmail to a 3 email account? Then maybe it'll register on your Blackberry.
Just a guess on my part I'm afraid, as my work emails get 'pushed' to the blackberry server and then to my BB.

I wouldn't know how to setup either of those to vibrate when I get an email either so I would be no better off.

iphone has no proper multitasking.
iphone has no proper multitasking.
it does but its disabled, its what makes it seem so quick as it can only have one app open at one time

Seeing as iPhones are at least £200 on ebay & that's not 3G or £135 for something that's totally broken , so what should I look for on ebay?
Though, doubt I will change from BB. the screen is good for almost seeing a webpage on it, & the qwerty keyyboard is almost passable.
Oh & spoke to 3 - they don't support BB emails on PAYG or contract so it will never work properly.
who cares he's got a ****in blackberry not a iphone.

people are giving him options mate. thats all . chill dude... if you look back hes acutally intrested in what options are open to him .
Stu .... I just went through the 'setup Wizard' after 'setup' to set it up .... and to make changes I go to 'mobile email' after 'setup' ....
Admittedly mines a curve I think .... but I would have thought most of the programming is the same .....

Did you have a password to put in? if so where did you get it from? is it your webmail password? or did your administrator at work give you one?
TBH I've given up on getting it to work after 3 said they don't support it.
But I'm having other issues with my BB. I've lost Bookmarks when I'm on the internet and also finding it difficult to change details in contacts.
