Might be a n00b question, probably is a n00b question.
Im tall, my legs dont fit under the grooves on the curvy's tank. Are there other tanks which will fit on the curvy sv's? Which one's fit best? Or if there's loads, can any other fellow tall people recommend something? I pretty sure a pointy's tank works. Will it fit a curvy?
Dont tell me "get a pointy". I will cyber-slap you

Depends how tall youa re. Im 6'1 and had the same problem. I bought some of the rearset mounting plates and moved the stock pegs back about an inch and now I can fit under the grooves quite happily.
I got them second hand off here, cheaper than a new tank

Oh right good idea. Does it require a lot of work? I'm new to it all so I wouldn't be able to do it so swiftly. Do I just EvilBay for "rearset mounting plates"?
Im about 6'6"..

They look pretty much the same and took about 20 minutes to fit. The most complicated part was adjusting the brake light switch with the pedal in a new position

if you have a naked get some hangers from the sport version which will do the job the same
and we will see you at the cafe's/pubs when we stop on a ride-out then
There's an interesting question and option that I hadn't considered, do other fuel tanks fit a curvy? Not for the height issues but just for a different tank.

Nah its a sport.. and yeah, if I ever go on a ride-out! I don't want to feel like a willy, I only have about 4k miles experience. But seriously, when I'm ducking out of the wind/touring, I can rest my elbows on my knees!

Yeah, I also thought it's look cool!
So do I just unbolt my rearsets, bolt on the plates, and bolt back on? That simple?

pretty much adjust the gear lever position and the brake lever position/brake switch will need adjusting all easy enough to do and NEVER worry about being slow and inexperianced, theres always someone slower than you somewhere, and when i first got my sv i had about 2k miles experiances and i have had the sv 9 months and im about to give her the third service, and do a few ride outs a year.
Just ask Dave Preston how he gets on with his?

Yeah, nice confidence booster there, thanks sunshine!
Does DavePreston ride a curvy? I think he's an inch taller than me
He does/did.
Think they have all ben naked's though..

Allan i have some mates in Swindon, next im down that area i will let you know and we can go for a quick ride and you can see me shoot off in front of you, and if my mates are there you wont even see them.
My mates told me try to keep up just do so at my own pace, and when some cage driver almost kills you be happy to pull over and text one of them so next time they pull over they can expect a wait instead of go looking for me, i took 10 minutes long per hour than them on average so they pulled over every 45minutes or so. these day we pull over just as often but they dont have time to even light there fag before i turn up.

With modern bikes the tank and frame are usually constructed to fit quite closely together, add to this the underside of the tank will be shaped to neatly fit around whatever is underneath - typically airbox and fuel system - so a straight swap is unlikely unless there is another very similar bike based around the same components, such as perhaps a V-Strom tank *might* fit a Pointy, but thus far I've had no reports.
Concerning other bikes I think it would be fair to say that we don't know of anything that will go straight on - so no, but then of course just about anything can be made to fit anything - what are your welding skills like?

for me i have done some different methods (ive had both s and n sv's) on the s i have used tank rasiers with rearset adjuster plates this worked well, also after hurting my knee i used n pegs instead of s as they are lower (this does take away some of the over the tank feel of the s) or you could use a set of rearsets
and for the unaware im 6"8 and have done some serious milage on both

That of someone who has done GCSE tech.
Any recommendations to where I can get cheap good rearset adjusters?
Or should I set sail for eBay?

They are just plates with holes in, nothing special. About £30 or make your own for about a tenner.
Or get some GBmoto rearsets for about £140

Lolololololol! I wish!

I've got some proper rearsets fitted, I reckon they are worth it from the extra ground clearance and smoother action.
I would however avoid any cheap copies on the market which use bushes rather than roller bearings.
But tenner for a bit of alloy plate is most cost-effective way around it.

Cool, good advice. I'll try the plates/tank raisers when some crop up on here or something, and see how that goes

I didn't notice any difference to riding position with tank raisers. You can only go up like 15mm at front, so by leverage that will only move cutouts 5mm or so.

Also good advice! You're getting good at this!
Ill bear that in mind, but it's better than nothing, as long as I can get my knees under so they're not serving as air-brakes either side of the bike.

Where did you post pic?
It is a build by tygaboy on bay area riders forum. He gives a complete how-to guide if you are interested.
Fizz, yes he has done a few, he did this one on that MV-agusta lookalike and another one which looked more normal for Zoran of TWF's race bike.
