View Full Version : sv sitting idle
I've seen a bike for sale that has been sitting unused for a couple of years, its in immaculate condition and it does run, but i'm concerned that all might not be well underneath. does anyone have any experience on how they fair when they've not been used regularly?

My first SV had been layed up for 2 years in a garage, it was the same - immaculate. Went up to have a look at it we wheeled it out and put some new fuel in and it started after a bit of trying. Choke plungers were seized but apart from that the bike was great. 10 years old and 6k on the clock.
Providing it was working ok when put away it should be ok apart from swapping the fluids, possibly unseizing stuff and maybe changing the tyres & battery. Price you pay should reflect what you may or may not have to do to it though.
Bring new fuel and a battery pack when you go to view it.
