simply put NO you get what ya pay for ,cheap materials that dont do the required job makes them a waste of cash ,many parts you can go for cheaper manifactors this is not one

No you don't get what you pay for, you can pay more for R+G that aren't as good :-P

I recommend motosliders.

FWIW
I haven't used Motosliders, but my bike has had two sets of R&G which significantly reduced the damage, firstly for my son and then for me!

had a few off's and R&G all the way for me. Performed superbly

motosliders just scrape and don't bend. Maybe I'd show you what they do if I could get near my bike that has tried and tested them :-(

I recommend them full stop. They are only made for the SV.

my mate recommends r&g's there one of the few things thats lasted in a crash, the frame bent and the r&g's didnt bend

Exactly..the frame bent, as they are not mounted the way motosliders are.
Motosliders come on a replacement bar for the one that runs right through the engine. They grind down instead of ripping your frame into funny shapes, and you can replace the nylon bung things instead of the whole lot.

IMO they are far superior to R&G and shipped from the US cheaper than you buy R&G here. In fact you'll probably receive them quicker too!

theres also a leg shaped dent in his frame where the van crushed it, so the frame was going to bend anyway i think

hmmm well that could have a large factor..lol!

I would say keep an eye on eBay if you're looking for cheap. Someone told me R&G are the real business, so I kept an eye on eBay and got some new ones for about £40.

Different sliders attach to the bike in different ways. My R&G ones came with a bar that went straight through the bike, and is bolted onto the bike several times each side for uber-secureness. But, I've also seen cheaper ones which just have a single bolt to hold them in place. I expect that the more you pay, the more you can rest confident in their effectiveness.

As far as I know, the actual sliders are ALL just really really really really compressed nylon, so maybe if you bought cheap sliders, and made your own R&G attachment-set-up or something?

Its a completely different mounting. The Motosliders is literally a long bung directly mounted on the engine bar.. Take bar out, put new one in It sits naturally in that little recess on the the frame..not mounted on top of a mount...that your R&G ones are.

I can't vouch for which is stronger (Come on, R&G!) but the R&G ones allow for lower fairings to be on the bike.

So do the motosliders (although a little trimming is needed).

R+G are too small footprint on bike, so they fold up easily and allow more damage. Motoslider dont.

I am looking into my options of crash bungs can someone please expand on the amount of trimming (I guess of the fairing) is actually needed. The thought of drilling holes in my bike does not excite me.

Just take fairing off they don't do owt. Or if you are tart and like looks then it's just a few mm with a flap wheel on a drill, you don't have to drill through the fairing.
