Not sure just yet, but it is a little obsession I have. My 2 stroke 250s have normally had anything to do with the pillion removed but my mrs gets on the back of the sv regularly so loosing the pegs/brackets and hangers is not an option.
I have a M4 full road system and GSXR wheels on the shopping list for this year but that is about £1000, this being a recession I wont have that sort of cash for a loooong time. Will start off with small things that dont mean much and then once I have saved up the cash, hit the heavy stuff with the cash.
Now I am not a good enough rider to probably even notice the differences, but it is my bike and it is something I enjoy doing :p
Nobby, removing the front end may make it lighter but I would like to ride it too :smt043 are you putting gixxer forks on?

Tommyboy, do you have a blue skid lid with white stripes over it, maybe a roof lid?

They are standard gsxr mirrors but with a k4 gsxr mount instead of the normal one that comes with the newer indicators. It's a little bit of work to get them to fit

Looking good Nobbylad. Those front wheel spokes look thin, nice and light I should think.
Do you have any issues with the forks catching the fairing lowers, I had to shave the top of the lowers on mine to stop them catching.
Nobbylad
30-03-10, 03:26 PM
Yep - same here...to be honest, I only put the lowers on just before I went to work on it for the 1st time. I was in a rush and only realised they were catching when I was about to ride off, so I ended up having a tight old hack at them 'cos I was rushing. I know the tops of the lowers aren't seen but it wasn't a tidy job at all....looks like someone's had a go at them with a knife and fork! :-)

Lol, same as mine then, looks like my dog has had a go at them, couldn't be bothered to take them off and trim them so heated them up with my lighter and hacked the offending pieces of platic off with a stanley .
I will get round to taking them off and tidying them up, but like you say they are not visible so I'm in no hurry.

yeh did them my self, i was going to polish them up so striped them down but found the metal was of a poor standard so used simoniz grey primer, simoniz paint black gloss, and then simoniz clear coat
they weren't easy to do as they are funny shape so hard to get good coverage, the GF has been on the back and no marks on the pegs at all so fairly good result regarding strength of the finish
Nobbylad
30-03-10, 04:32 PM
At least with the powder coating, as long as you dismantle and degrease them, they glass bead shot blast them and then powder coat them. Seems worth it for the money.
barwel1992
30-03-10, 04:47 PM
^ yeh i wouldn't of bothered doing it if i haded striped them in the first place, however all the paint 2x 500ml black 1x 500ml primer and 1x 500ml clear cote only cost £15 inc P&P and those are the big cans and only used about a quarter of one can of black, primer and clear cote
at least they go with my black rear sets and black crash bungs (that don't fit the k3 according to R&G lol)
Well after cleaning my bike today after a little ride today it came up really good so had to take some piccies, lol.
I washed it all down and detailed. Then used Autoglym Aqua Wax, I'm amazed with the results!! Looks stunning! You have all got to buy a bottle....

Guess I may as well join in the show. Here we have my K3 naked. Bought it from another South Walian about 2 months ago and just starting to get things the way I want them. Money is short so Im doing as much as I can myself, hence the exhaust hanger. Looks ok to me. And as far as colour matches go, Halfords do a spray paint colour called Ford Moondust Silver which is a pretty close match to the Suzuki silver.
Next on the DIY hit list is the brakes and then the bouncy bits.
Good to see all those luvvly SVs out there.
