Hi guys, I'm pretty new to the site but I thought you might appreciate a pic or two of my modified Sv!

http://forums.sv650.org/picture.php?albumid=775&pictureid=5340

The bike started life as a bog standard silver Sv650s SK3 until this winter when I binned it at night on a country road, needless to say the bike was pretty buggered so i set about stripping it down to a bare frame and rebuilding it, ive since had the frame and sub frame powdercoated satin black like later sv's and modded it in any way I could! Its still in the project phase and has yet to hit the road, keen eyed viewers maybe able to spot vital bits missing, hope you enjoy!

Mods to date include...

Gsxr 1000 rear shock,Gsxr k5 front end, Polished lower triple, Gsxr k8 rear wheel
(ofset spoke version), Scorpion domed cap oval exhaust, High level link pipe, Puig DB Screen, R&G frame sliders and bar ends,
powerbronze belly pan, All pro bolt fixings, TL1000 s 50mm clip ons, adjustable short levers'pazzo style', suzuki oem gel seat,
seat cowl and infills, R&g tail tidy, Smoked rear tail light, Tinted lens covers, K&N air filter, Mirror extenders,
520 pitch 15t front sprocket, 520 pitch 45t rear sprocket, Xenon headlights,Pirelli Diablo supercosra sc2 & sc0 tyres, Goodrich braided hoses,
Gsxr titanium anodized disc bolts, Powdercoated main frame and sub frame, Gsxr rear wheel spacer and caliper mount kit,
30mm jack up shock linkage,

(standard sv components replaced) full set of 03 burning copper bodywork incl tank(YAV), New clock mount, new swingarm, throttle cables
, oem mirrors, oem fuel cap, swingarm bolt, engine bolts, dash surround

Now that is what i call an SV! I would get rid of that bellypan and get the much nicer Suzuki one as it goes much better with the lines of the pointy. And powder coat the crash bung brackets black or get the naked bike version (those are for the faired SV i believe)

Oh, and giz a go mister ;)

Tredge2010

Thanks for the comments guys, the belly pan came free with the copper bodywork from a donor sv and is really only temporary, i'm torn between getting another pyramid belly pan like it had before the crash or I have a set of proper lowers in light blue I could get sprayed up to match plus i already have the right R&g's to mount them,

Thought you might like to see a Pic of it before the spill and some of the rebuild, i'll hopefully get it out on the road in the next couple of weeks and take some nice pictures in the sun as my garage as a back drop doesn't do it justice!

Tredge2010

Powder coat for the main frame and sub frame was £137 incl VAT, just had to clean it and drop it of, only took a week, I got a cheap swing arm already in black so I didn't have to bother getting that done!

The lights come out of the fairing when you wanna paint it... Also, they are not changed from original, it is the change in light between outside and inside the garage

tredge, i hate to make negative comments to people when they've clearly put more effort into a project than I've ever been bothered to do so please dont take the following the wrong way, its intended to be 100% constructive:

In my hearts honest opinion those headlight covers are "chav tat" which on most chav bikes is just another thing to roll my eyes at along with colour coded bolts, brake res covers, branded heal plates you know the kind of stuff. But your bike isnt chavy you've done some serious performance upgrades to that bike and the covers cheapen the over all look, I recon you should use tinting spray to smoke the plastic darker that way you'll keep the effect but the appearance wont be as chav tastic.

PS Barwells right on the pipe too, stubby it!

Mine are held on with some Scotch sticky pads, like velcro but stronger and more re-usable...forgotten what they're really called.

I know some people must like them or they wouldnt exist, but my 3 main (possibly only) reasons for not liking them are:
1. You must have all seen some GSXR parked up (usually outside halfrauds) with a set of lime green ones stuck wonkey on the front and it makes me just think - WHY? It gives me the same sort of feeling as when I see a Corsa with a dusbin as an exhaust.
2. It is hands down a brilliant example of form over function, and as a yorkshire bloke that doesnt really appeal to me :) If its bought then it must serve a purpose and "cos its pretty" doesnt count as a function.
3. If it was the light cluster that tinted/smoked then it would look mint and truely stealth (consistant lines, smooth panel transition etc) but these stick on covers are anything but smooth or consistant, they're literally stuck on - and they look it.

From the front nobby your bike looks very stylish but the profile exposes that they're not flush and it cheapens the look. That is totally my opinion and Im not going to think less of someone who has them its just not my cup'o'tea.

Looks good, what's the full spec as I'm keen to sort myself out with an all weather SV before winter. My additions were going to be rear hugger, fender extender, DL 650 hand guards (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=163872) and heated grips. If I have the reddies I was going to add a Givi top box with brake light plus flasher (http://www.flashingbrakelights.co.uk/Motorcycle_Products.html), some full exhaust system, gel seat, HID's and a clear double bubble.

Not many modifications but a few aimed towards comfort like

Matt's top yoke with raised handle bars (comfort kit)
Oxford sports heated grips
DL hand guards (taken off now)
Mirror extenders and blind spot add-ons.
MRA Vario touring screen
Givi V46 complete system from ebay.it for about 215 pounds all inclusive.
Pipewerx exhaust

As accessories I have the Garmin 550 satnav and Scala Rider Q2 headset.

Thinking on adding a Scotoiler, a more comfortable custom seat, a bagster tank cover + bag and perhaps the givi lights kit.

The hand guards come with some spacers but for fitting them I used the original bar ends. A small adjustment on the left hand guard was necessary to fit it around the clutch pivot screw.

A scalpel you ask? Well I used to have some black stickers on the front of the SV, I quite liked them, so decided to re-instate them, thinking the gloss black on satin black would be good. I took inspiration from TRON Legacy.

The cool thing about the vinyl I used is that it is reflective - same pic but with the flash on.

I do have a tank done in the satin, but the more I look at it, I think I will leave the red tank on :) - Just need to TRON-ify it :)

Its not chav if it is an aid to safety :)

Anything that makes the front of my bike light up like a christmas tree from the headlights of an oncoming car is good in my book.

I even removed the undertail LED's that were on it pre-respray (which were also non-chav as they were wired off the brake-light and had high and low intensity just like the brake light, so were a safety feature)

So there :)

Besides I am from north of the border - we dont have Chav's where I come from, so I can't be one.

Halfords own Satin Black - takes 2 cans to cover an SV with one coat.

Used 2 cans of Grey Primer too, single coat as this is supposed to be just an opportunity to get all the panels I took off resprayed properly - ie have time and cash spent on them.

Cost was about £28 then whatever some 800grit wet and dry was.

No laquer, so will see how it goes after the first rain/petrol spillage when filling.

Its a near perfect match for the clock surround plastics, and the frame.

The blue one that was on is, the one in the pic is one I bought ages ago that was damaged but repaired by me for the purpose of allowing me to have a full-set of spare "painted" bits.

The ironic thing is that the tank that I didnt put on in the end was that blue originally (gotten from Samnooshka already prepped for paint), the rear end and mudguard likewise - ie all the bits (apart from the original tank) could have been put together to make a blue bike :)

I have been meaning to get this done for ages, years in fact, its just that this weekend I had the time and the weather.

Its your headlight too :)

Nice to see it being used rather than stuck on a shelf in my shed!

You did this with spray can's? Top marks. When do you open for business?

Some day (soonish I hope) it will be resprayed the colour I actually want the bike to be, and then put back on :)

Thanks, but I will add that you cant see the little blemishes, or the slightly streaky bits or the bits where the prep was pretty poor but I was getting tired/impatient/bored.

Anyone can do that or better - and its simple, just dont rush.

Use 800 grit wet and dry (wet it well), to key the paint - you dont need to go down to the original primer/meta/plastic.

Rinse the part in plenty of clean water, let it dry.

Then run a pre-paint/panel-prep wipe over it, then once that has dried (takes seconds), put on the primer, it should be a couple of light coats, but I have to admit that all of the bike was done with one coat of primer and and some points, it wasn't that light.

Then when that has dried for a bit, blast over it with the black, leave to dry for about 48 hours or so then chuck the bits back on the bike.

I have no idea how long the finish will last, nor do I really care - it still looks better than it did :)
