Jabba

So here we are, three days into the new year and I reckon this will be unsurpassed on the feck-up front :-(

Mrs Jabba's Renault Scenic, whilst it's been a good car and served us well (other than having to replace all the coil-packs and other electrical gremins), was ripe for change and hints about getting a new car had not gone unnoticed.

I'd asked her a question along the lines of "If you were going to swap the Scenic, what would you fancy instead?" and had got an answer. This was weeks ago and I reckon she was thinking no more of it.

"Got a few errands to run. Mind if I take the Scenic as the Mazda's tyres need checking and I haven't got time at the moment?" says I. "Ok!" says Mrs Jabba. So off I go to surprise her with a new car.

Got her this:

http://www.whitedovegroup.co.uk/picture.ashx?regno=AF58ZTB&man=&size=0&n=0

It's a Skoda Roomster 2 1.9TDI. Well-build, practical and economical; all the things she likes in a car.

So I drive it home, park it up and, feeling very pleased with myself, go get Mrs Jabba.

"Cover your eyes honey, I've got a surprise for you!" says I, and lead her outside....... "You can open them now!"

"My god..... that's ugly! What on earth made you think I'd want that?"

"It's what you said you wanted when I asked you a few weeks ago".

"Erm...... I said that I'd wouldn't mind a roadster......"

Feel free to point and laugh. There's a long thread on here about "jubblies". Don't think I'm gonna any for a while :-(

It'll grow on her. After all its just a VW in different clothes:p

Its not Fiat Multipla ugly, but it's not exactly pretty.

It also has a really, really poor name - obviously thought up by marketting buffoons who wanted something 'funky' and 'fun' but failed miserably (just like 'Modus', 'Pixo' and 'Twingo')

Just chop it for an impractical sports car of some kind, then jubbly privalages may be restored.

I can feel a giggle welling up...

Know how you feel mate. Dec '08 Mrs B also wanted a new car. 2 weeks before Xmas I surprise her with an A140 Merc. Oh, a Merc, uuuurrrgghhhh, wtf is that??

The high pitched whine had reached fever pitch by mid summer. I told her to change it for what she wanted. "But I don't know cars," she says. "Thats alright, obviously I don't either," sez I. She still has it.

she indeed said she wanted a roomster ,but due to the fickle nature of a womans decison making process, which is beyond the comprehention of any man she changed her mind and expected you to know it

welcome to the world of no win followed by the emortal words "i thought you knew me"

Now I own a Skoda, a Superb which is just like an Audi A6. I love it and reccommend Skodas to anyone prepared to listen, but even I feel happy to say you fecked up there. It's a butt ugly machine.
Loves course never runs true!

Dude that's worse than buying you wife a per of pyjamas for Christmas, do you have kids? They wont use it ;-)

WTF? Is this for real? Can't see why anyone would buy a car for their spouse without discussing it or going looking together, unless of course it's a life long dream car, which clearly this is.

Come the 14th Feb, try not to get her a bunch of weeds, box of cat turds and a bottle of monkey pish.

A lot of VW group parts are interchangeable between models and in house brands , so it would be a Breakers dream to get rid of bits from that . Jabba , will the dealer take it back for something else instead ?

Anyway, I'll have it if she won't!

In the words of Clarkson

Ambitious, but rubbish.

I'd either
a) Get a new wife
b) Slap her for being ungreatful
c) Take it back
d) Give it to me.

I had a proper skoda (Rear engine 130lse...sports!) Great car for what it was. As for the roomster, i like it, however i like the Yeti more. It is a polo/golf hybrid underneath and probably wont break down...ever!
