Following a minor incident with an onion, a large Sabatier knife, a brief visit to Winchester A&E and an almost-but-not-quite severing of my left thumb tip :smt022 I do not expect to be riding my motorcycle to work this week.
AND I didn't finish making the lasagne.
Tricky things, those onions. Tricky.

Yes bloody useful things they be and you only notice how useful when you can use one right, right?
Perhaps you ought to invest in something like this

Good idea.
Stable door bolted, horse gone...
Plus:
£3.99 then another £3 for p&p?!
A few years back i did the same thing with a Stanley knife and a little finger!
But being a rock hard Geordie and not fancying a 20 mile drive to the A&E I sewed the bit back on myself with 4lb fishing line using my right hand and my teeth. :)
Have you ever seen neater sewing? (that'll be from my feminine side then!)

ST saving you the grief for next time. And you can pick up similar things at most pound shop type shops or the real deal JML ones from Robert Dyas or other shops like that. HTH :)

Sharp knives cut what they are supposed to, blunt knives cut you.

So does a moment of not paying attention. Just as well I don't work in the air traffic control industry.
Hang on a minute... I DO work in the air traffic control industry.
Sharp knives cut what they are supposed to, blunt knives cut you.
Except when my Mum accidentally turned the knife around and was pushing the sharp bit with her thumb this Christmas - thankfully it wasn't too sharp.

It does look very neat, do you have a photo now for us to compare the before and after shots?

piffle i stuck the top of my ear back on after a fight with my brother ,tools required = a bootle of bacardi (dipped the off cut in to sanitise) and glue ,only way to tell is if ya run your finger down my ear
more effort required people
Them Southern folk did this to me with their wet leaves in January 2006...
Didn't get diagnoised till March... 3 months with a broken thumb joint, 2 pins and a plate later....

lol i crushed my middle finger and couldent do any thing for ages was so anoying
i crushed it under a curb stone while making a skate ramp i ended up crushing the bone, riped the whole nail INC the bed out of the skin/bone,and the end of my finger had exploded and most of the tissue had come out was a right mess. They stuck the nail back in and put 4 stiches (non disolving) in the end of my finger and around the nail and then wraped it up with gours it bled for 3-4 days and the bandages would stick to the cuts and they had to boil the hard blood so it would disolve and not pull the nail out again had to have it changed evory day for 2 weeks.
all of that and the worce thing was the injection that numbs the area i had one each side of my finger and the stuf was like glue.... the moste pain i have ever indured
hope it heals well :)

I wonder if we should all be banned from doing anything even remotely dangerous - health and safety, you know. Let's start with banning getting out of bed due to potential trip risk, we can all have a lie in.

Never mind knives it's forks you've got to watch out for, never kick a bag with an old rusty fork in it, or you may just decorate your foot with three pretty holes all neatly aligned  (p.s. didn't know a fork was in the bag til it was too late..)

Actually, I was extremely calm though Mrs Tallguy was less so.
I ensured the dogs were fed & watered, got some magazines in case of a long wait at A&E, and told Mrs Tallguy to slow down driving, there's no rush.
Having rarely been injured, I wasn't sure that I didn't need sewing up (fish line is my favourite, of course). Glad I didn't.
Here's another thing that is BAD IF YOU'VE GOT A SORE THUMB:
Peeling a clementine and getting juiced.
(sucks air through teeth at the memory)
Still, at least I didn't try aftershave...
