I know some one has one on here, just cant remember who. My dads wanting to get rid of his for a B12 or a nekkid SV thou something like that and i didnt think much of it because i thought insurance would be mental on it but i got a few quotes for a few different bikes last night as i was thinking about getting a nice shiny R6 but the insurance on the ZXR is is only 20 quid more expensive so now I'm thinking about that as well. Any one have any comments on what there lke to ride? Can't use the one in the garaga as its sorned at the moment so thats nothelpful

Go on then, whats the insurance quote for you then?

I know the R6 I looked at was £1550 to insure.

I thought you were older than us proper young'uns! £1550 seems menta!

I can get a gixxer 750 insured fully comp for £790, and I'm 20 with 1yrs NCB.

Both TPFT the R6 was £464 and the ZX7 was £481. Thats on a 96 ZX7 and a 99 R6

I can get a gixxer 750 for 446 FC.

My Daytona and the KTM 520 together was only £390 FC ( KTM addd 69 quid:rolleyes:)

Its all down to stats with different bikes, occupations, ages and areas etc I guess:confused:

And less of the old!

Bloody whippersnappers;)

Sounds reasonable:thumleft:

Whats the excess?

If its pretty low too, you may as well have it yourself.

Twas a compulsery excess of £200 which i thought was fairly good. Both bikes were cheapest with the same company that asked for the same excess.

the zx is a nutty bike (apparently) i would love one .. but im 17 so that wouldn't happen

my dad had a 99r6 and couldn't stand it, cramped(even for my mum),way to revy, gutless unless you made it scream

looks nice though

The zx7r is an awesome bike to ride......

Once you've jacked up the rear ride height and dropped the forks a bit, before doing that it can be a bit of a tank to manhandle round the corners.

I love mine, there's a zx636 and an older zx6r in the garage with it and it's the zx7r that gives me the biggest grin!

It's an iconic bike in my opinion and well worth getting.

Oh, by the way.....£75 FC for the year for me on mine ;)

+1 On what BC just said! Love riding the 7 but it's not quite as flickable as the 6 as standard, it is a heavy lump but great fun to ride.

Not ridden either of that age, newer R6 I tried wasn't my cup of tea. Tried a ZXR750 though and it was a right laugh, they've got an evil howl to them and pretty useable low down too.

R6 vs 7R no contest, no replacement for displacement.

they are ****ing uncomfortable but give a howl like nothing else turns like a barge my bro had one and swapped it for a svthou as it was just crippling.

How tall is your brother?

I'm 5'7 and have done 700 miles in one day on mine.....No bother!

about 6 foot though seriously with any decent leg length it's sodding horrible my dad took it for a mot which was a five minute ride and even he said it was bloody horrible.

Surely every one's different? I'm 6'2 and I found the 'S' more comfortable than my old naked and they're supposedly more uncomfortable, or that's what I was expecting atleast.

The r6 is tiny though...

the naked is bloody uncomfortable with the stock rear sets and skinny bars

wide bars and good rear sets makes it feel so much better

I don't care, I don't own one just wouldn't want someone to be deterred before even trying one out.

I did the bars £15...but had a heart attack on the price of rearsets. Considering them for the 'S' though, think it'd benefit from 'em too.

would you not have them know before thrying i could just spout positives about it but then how would that help i'd of hoped he'd want people to let him know the good's and bad's about a bike i would i don't get people on here sometime's.

Right, I caught the last bit of that. You said "with any decent leg length the bike's sodding horrible", I was just trying to help by mentioning an experience that I'd had so as not to rule this bike out. Apologies if this offended you

lol yes, I just meant it's worth test riding even if you're 7'15".
The R6 I did find without a doubt painful, comically small bike. Think it was an 01 I had a wee go on.

have a sit on a 7r you'll see what i mean or maybe you won't somebodies gotta fit it or else it wouldn't have sold.

I've sat on the 6 which was ok, not had the honour of a 7r...couldn't handle it anyhow.

I've got a 31" inside leg and find it comfortable....

Horses for courses though aint it?

Only way to find out if a bike is for you is to go get a test ride!

Think im going to have to have a go on it see if i like it I think, just need to wait till its ice free so i can whiz it round a wee bit. I'm liking the no replacement for displacement thinking though ;) and barwel I'm only 18 with 2 years ncb so insurance might not be as bad as you think =]
