I got a PS3 for Crimbo, along with COD MW2 (yay!). Anyone have recommendations for headsets (or even anti-recommendations, to prevent me from buying a pup), so my wife doesn't get p*ssed off if I play once she's gone to bed? Ideally I'd like cordless ones. Thanks! :-)

i've got this one http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/6704615/Official-Sony-PS3-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headset/Product.html?&_$ja=tsid:11518%7Ccc:%7Cprd:6704615%7Ccat:Hardware
But only cos it came with SOCOM online only version. Its quite good but hurts my ear after a couple of hours of use and i find i have to stick it in my other ear. No biggie really. Says it can also be paired to a mobile since its bluetooth but not tried that yet, tho i'm sure it'd work.
Dont forget tho only some of the sond comes out thru this, not everything so you still the the tv volume on to hear the gameplay. This is for chatting to other players, not sure if they all work that way or what tho.
hth.
I got this from my local HMV for a tenner.

Seems good enough quality to me. Oddly enough the headset on its own was more expensive than this bundle.
Anything with JBL on it is amazing headphone wise, I have a set for my ipod and would highly recomend them.

Personally, I like and have the Giotek EX-01 and will cost between £15-20 and like many can be used with your phone and other devices should you wish!!

Thanks Spidey. Looks pretty good, but I guess I got it totally wrong - I expected all sound to come out the headset, thus the current Mrs Woodman would be able to sleep soundly (the bedroom is almost above the TV)! maybe I'll just have to turn down the sound a bit as well.

I'll take a look - thanks. I'm no audiophile, so cheap is probably more than adequate for me! :-)

Ahh, I thought they made big diggers! :-)
Thanks - I'll look into them as well. I'd like to have good quality stuff, but if it works, that's probably fine.

Sharkoon Digital Headset (http://www.sharkoon.com/html/produkte/headsets/x-tatic_digital/index_en.html?id=2)
it may seem expensive at £105, but well worth the pennys that I saved up.
impressive Dolby Digital surrounds feel (4 mini speaker in each ear! front, centre, back and bass channels) with good detail and sound range (I can hear direction of gunfire/foot steps in cod) lots of control over each channel's volumn, inc mic level.
I watch films/play games on it and I can say it is as good or better then a £400 5.1 system setup! :thumleft:
thats the one spidey, full surround for you while your wife sleeps soundly ;) (it comes with lots of wires!)
there are wireless options for £150 but I think its only for xbox :???:

I'm not online (yet), for 2 reasons:
1) I'm not used to the PS3 controls at all - come from a PC, so i'm so rubbish I thought I'd practice a bit first.
2) When I did try and sign up, I couldn't come up with a name that wasn't already taken!
When I'm at least a little bit proficient, I'll get myself online, even if it's just to give everyone else some target practice! :-)

just saw this, cheaper at £60 with stereo instead of 5.1
Turtle Beach PS3 Headset Ear Force (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002BU0DPE/ref=s9_simi_gw_s6_p23_i3?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1J7ZW9EPRAJFNQRE5PYB&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294)

How do these Turtle jobbies work then? In order to get surround sound you need to connect the headphones to a HDMI or Optical output.
In order to be able to use the mic you need to connect them to the PS3 via Bluetooth.
They would also need to play back both the sound from a regular bluetooth headset and the sound the regular PS3 sound at the same time.
EDIT
OK, done a bit of Googleing and see that they connect via optical and USB.
Looks like some are marketed as PS3 compatiable when they dont have a USB headphone connecton, just the regular one for the X-Box 360 so be careful.
These look good

Sharkoon Digital Headset (http://www.sharkoon.com/html/produkte/headsets/x-tatic_digital/index_en.html?id=2) are both PS3 & xbox compatible, 5.1 sound. (I have these and they are as good as or better then the average £300 home cinema surround sound system setup)
turtlebeach (http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx4/home.aspx) wireless 7.1 sound but is xbox only

Might invest in some of these, I was thinking of spending hundreds on a full surround sound system but seeing as most of my gaming is done after the missis goes to bed I wouldn't be able to have them on that loud.
Are you aware of any wireless 5.1 PS3 ones, pref that charge from USB rather than take batteries.

LOL, exactly why I got them :D
there wasn't any wireless PS3 headsets when I was researching six months ago, there maybe some out now but guess it would cost more then the ones we have mentioned?
