As it's been looking like this around here for a couple of weeks

I thought it would have been your DRZ! Almost as mad riding up there on MTB's, you must be quite fit!

Lovely views too, the fields of unbroken snow are beautiful.

I wish the whole country was hilly. It's beautiful to live somewhere like that, but in my profession there just such a price to pay in terms of the amount of travel time you have to put in to get in and out of such places. Would often mean leaving the evening before and staying in a hotel near to my customer, so I can be there at a suitable time the next day.

Ace, I did this a few years ago, me and my mate went for a ride in the snow

Had a great laugh & best of all feck all cars on the road bits.

Looks like you wouldn't have had any 4 wheel pests on your ride LP :p

Have you been out on the DRZ? I've been seriously tempted to get out on the XT, but thought to best to get some off road experience before tackling green lanes covered in snow.

You know that's not true! :smt058 However my mate Craig is pretty fit. We both had to push up the UCR because the snow was deep and that was hard work!

I work from home, so the only stipulation is broadband - not always available in places like my village. God bless the Wales Assembly Government and the RIBS project I say! (and a lot of lobbying by yours truly ;) )

The DRZ would have been fun on the climb, but it has road tyres on so a no-no. On the road sections it might have been all right, but it was very icy! Craig fell off on a downhill section on the road and hurt himself. We walked back to the village. We only took that road because we abandoned the plan to take a bridleway across the big hill in the first picture (behind the trees), because it was all taking so long! 2 hours to do 4 miles :smt046

I work from home

Me too, permanently in that I very rarely go to a company office, but do have to visit customers for meetings, usually 2-3 days a week.

LuckyPants where did you go on the old mountain bikes? From your photos it looks a bit like around Moel Ffamau though that is closer to Denbigh than Ruthin.

Other side of the Vale of Clwyd to Moel Famau. That side would have been swarming with sledgers / skiers / etc.

Thought the tyre tracks looked too narrow even for a DRZ - when the snow's above those telegraph poles, give me a bell & will re-live the 1963 Dragon Rally !

On the way home from my mum's tonight, I thought should take some photos of the snowy lane. Taken with my phone through the windscreen...

Strong winds today have caused big drifts to form on the high level roads here. The lane in the photos now has major drifts with snow to bonnet height. All good fun!
