I have a 360 pre HDMI but with the HD switch on the output plug.
I have a HD TV with HDMi input and with a scart RGB input capability and the red white and yellow RCA type inputs.
Currently I an just using the red, white and yellow plugs into the TV. There are no RGB input plugs but the scart has RGB capability
How can I make best use of the TVs HD capability, if I get an RGB to scart adapter and switch the HD switch on the XBOX plug will I get HDMI type picture.
I have seen a HDMi type hub converter, is that the only way I can get HDMi.
Ive been through various forum sites but struggling to understand.
Is the only real solution to buy a HDMI output equipped xbox 360 and if so is the difference worth it?

you can get component cables which give you better quality and yes hdmi does look better but not worth buying another xbox for.

It would give you a beter pic but it wouldn't be native converting it like that best to try get a HDMI equipped xbox and if you're not too fussed on graphics it's not worth it.

?

I was using the hdmi out from my xbox until last week when i switched back to the xbox plug with hd switch. (I needed the optical output for headphones) you will still get 1080p (if your tv has this) which is the same as hdmi. the red/blue/green is your video output and red/whitw/yellow the audio. if yor tv does not have these inputs(it should but perhaps without he yellow) then any scart rgb converter will work and the red / white will give you the audio signal.

you may need to change the settings from 480p - 1080p in the dashboard menu (think there is a 1080i option as well)

Is there any benefit to this? if the component cable is transmitting 1080p as well??

I take it this is what you are referring to

HDMI is satans spawn. Essentially just DVI + audio in a crappy connector and as a bonus comes with HDCP with all its 'benefits' for the consumer.

But I digress, anyway what you want is a component to HDMI converter if you must sell your soul.

Because I dont have an HDMI socket on my 360 the one pictured above is no good. Ive bought one of these:

I think it will do the job although I changed the setting last night on the xbox dash to 1080 and it made a significant difference just through the yellow plug.

If I have wasted my money on this pluggy think please dont tell me!

Do you have a 15pin VGA connector on the TV?
