Hey,
I've seen a "rear end" thread somewhere on here but I can't find it anymore. So seen as I'm looking to get rid of my pointy's snow shuvle for something small I thought I'd start again!
Heres mine at present:

I'm trying to work out why people block out their number plates online. It's not like they aren't on full display when they get ridden on the road, so what's the bloody point.
Please don't answer with "but it might get cloned" cos that's utter bull. You stand more chance of it getting cloned when you park up at work or in town.

STR, I have an R&G one too. Had an Evotech last time and prefer the R&G.
But, your number plate needs sliding over to the right a bit.
I am not OCD before any TVSF jump in.....LOL.
I can be OCD most of the time been looking at the pic and your right only problem is it looks like it's where I have drilled not the plate on the tail tidy no looking when I come to a meet.
If i remember right i had to do it like that because i didnt want to drill the middle bolt through half a letter if you get what i mean

I like both the hamicad and the evotech, the R&G one looks pretty cool too. Is it simply just a case of unbolting the standard and bolting the new one on? obv. attach indies and no. plate light.

I wrote over my number plate in a thread because I could put a funny comment there instead of my boring reg number, but I think that you will find I don't usually bother.
I guess for some, a number plate may be a special private thing, also if you don't know who's plate is who's, they can cut you up on the road and get away with it Lozzo... not that any one here would dream of trying to wind you up! :smt062

I've been looking and thinking about the idea of a tail tidy this weekend as I fitted my carrier last week and wondered is there any point in putting a tail tidy on when I've got a carrier on? Just a thought.
Rob
I have a Hamicad on mine

Can you bend these tail tidies at all so the angle isn't so severe?

Bend what? If you mean the number plate bracket, the reason the angle is 'so severe' is so that the number plate does not foul the rear tyre when the suspension compresses.

Aye, yes that's what I meant. I guess these are legal like that? Think I might give the Hamicad one a go.

yeah probably make another one some time in the future. but the lack of power dont justify the sporty looks. although admittedly that particular k5 i owned was beautiful to ride compared to my crappy k3 which is dredful to ride.

Agreed.

What's the legality of having a light for your reg. plate on a tail tidy, mine was on the bike when I got it and hasn't got one and can't tell if some of the tail tidies in this thread have got lights on either?
kiggles

its supposed to have a number plate light. But over time mine stopped working (probably due to not being cleaned and large amount of water from road). but luckily the rear light of the SV650 seems to do the trick so still pass's its MOT. you can buy them for £10. but £10 is enough for two beers, or 100 miles in fuel. so i didnt bother replacing it

Yeah I've seen this one below on eBay looks like it'll do the trick and is small enough to fit in the bit of space left between the light and number plate.

Like you say the rear light lights up the number plate so I just thought that was the reason for no number plate light.

Had a look under the pillion seat and the connector below (circled badly!) is the one I'm assuming is for number plate light as theres no other wires unused. Just can't see from the eBay listing in the post above whether the connectors will fit this one. Will it be easy to fettle if they don't or will I have to try and find the right connector to fit to the wires on the new light?

usually they come with bullet tip ends. i just cut the connector off and used two different connectors from my magic shed.

Actually just seen these, will still need a bit of fettling but if they fit I think they will look better then a little box just stuck on the plate!

Decided to go for a strip of LEDS that I'd seen, cost a whole £2.59 delivered, easy to fit (stuck on) and can be trimmed to desired size. Sorry to take the thread of course a little but could give people options with reg. plate lights for their tail tidies. Here's a pic, isn't that clear, maybe should have turned the flash off!
