Ok one for the gamers, and we're talking PS3!
I've always played Pro-Evo from my PS1 and 2 days, but the latest pro-evos have been pretty poor. Anyway so I'd heard Fifa 10 was supposed to be a million times better than pro'y now (wasnt always the case IMO). so I went and bought fifa 10 last night played it for a while and anyway I'm wank, lol any tips/tricks you have or advice for playing multiplayer against mates would be awsome.
Also people who play online Do you want to add your usernames to this thread and when I set mine up I'll do the same, should be tonight.

I used to love PES, but it seriously has gone downhill. Fifa all the way.

Main tip is when recieving a pass keep your fingures off the sprint trigger, player controls the ball much better and keeps it close to his feet. Use X to tackle - not O. :D

xbox controls but im sure the buttons are in roughly the same places
hold lb (l1 or l2?) + shoot for a lob.
hold rb (r1 or r2?) + shoot for slower fancier shot.
tap right anoolog stick in direction of travel to make a quick break for it.
hold left trigger (r1 oe r2?) + twiddle right anolog stick for skills ie step overs kick ups.
Oh and hold top button (triangle?) down to make goalie come out to close attacker down.

On Xbox on 2009 there are actually six types of shot.
Standard - B
Lob - LB + B
Finesse Finish - RB + B
Lower Controlled Finesse Finish LT + RB + B
Lower, more speed lob - LB + RB + B
Lower, more speed & Distance Lob - LT + LB + RB + B
How about shot/pass fake? Hold shoot or long pass button (B or X), as it is powering up before bar is full, tap A, if you wanna do a direction change with that, it can be done too.

cool, ill give them a go, 2010 is a big improvement, less stilted, grab it.
old school fifa is where it was all that. Nothing like the good ol' fifa95's and fifa96's.
But I think the modern day pro evo gaming engine is much more fun than fifa's, and has been since Pro evo first came out. It's not always about which is the most realistic. Ive played fifa10, but I just found it a tad boring. Not played the new pro yet.

Fifa all the way for me, especially the next gen versions on PS3. I can't stand the arcade game feel of PES (which, imho hasn't changed much over the years). I never understand how people say it's more realistic than fifa.
As for tips, when defending hold L2 and move the left analogue stick to jockey backwards (i.e. face the attacker). Try to block off possible passes with the man you have controlled and then hold circle to get another team mate to go in for the tackle. As your selected man will already be facing the attacker (removing the need to turn), it'll make it easier to cut out a pass if it comes your way .
Practise your shooting in the arena at the start, chip shots (L1+shoot) are quite effective if you get the hang of them. You can do free kicks, corners etc which is quite useful for trying new things out as you don't have to wait to get a set piece in a match.
My PSN username is joshmac. Add me if you fancy a game at some point :)

The only free kick that works for me is the one under the wall when they jump, and i can pull it off fine in the arena. however, in a match ive never scored any free kicks, none of us in the house have lol.

If it's fairly close (and you're using a half decent player), aim over the wall, slightly to the outside of the post furthest from the keeper. Get the power up meter just under half way and then after you've pressed circle (not using L1 too) curl it with the left analog stick (at about 10 O'Clock assuming it's a free kick where you're aiming outside the right post) back towards the goal. I'd say they go in 90% of the time.
