View Full Version : is it going to snow tomight?
Ulrika our weather girl (can you guess who this really is?:D) in the office has gone on strike and is refusing to give any more forecasts because of so many errors in the past:rolleyes::cool::D
So is it going to snow tonight? In West Midlands and Shropshire, I mean, I'm not interested in London, it doesn't feature on the radar:D

I hope not, i was just getting the confidence to go on the road in a car for the first time then BAM, snow everywhere :-(

Yup!
There's a severe weather warning in place for the whole of south and mid-Wales (yeah, I know..... but you're close!); 80% chance of snow. Looks like the sky's about to empty here. As predicted!
Oh clery vever, now answer the question please:D
(That's for Pete!)

Well the BBC says it is but their forcasting is useless.
On the other hand it has at least now changed from "heavy snow" to "light snow", not that it makes a difference how much snow there is even an inch causes chaos, took me about an hour to do the 2miles from mine to the motorway Monday, there was virtually no snow on the road just a bit of slush!

I'm in Plymouth and it is blizzard like and snowing. Settling, but not as thick as last week. Should be a fun drive home!

I think that we are going to get some snow here, Forcast keeps changing depending on which one you look at.
I did however find this website earlier on.
http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
Its not real time, but it does show you actually what the weather has been doing rather than what the forecastors think it might...

But who is Ulrika?
If Ulrika Johnssen married that Brazillian footballer she'd be Ulrika Kaka :-D
Blizzard conditions here now, so I'd say yes, Ed is going to get snow

It's Daryl. I think he listens to Farming Today as he always knows the weather forecast, and so cruel and nasty Sarah called him Ulrika...

Tis true, but i tend to look at metcheck or the met office. having a pony and living in the country having an idea what the weather has in store has it's benefits. Sarah is not either of the above, and she makes great coffee :D. Also unlike Ed i can spell tonight, without the spell checker.
Daryl. :D
Hmm darylB is lurking so I expect a riposte;)
Ran home tonight into a south westerly so snow is on the way. Great.
Been snowing about three hours here in the port. Really dont want to ride it again tonight and then drive through dorset all night, my concentrations starting to waver after three weeks of cr@p conditions
Been snowing here for 5 hrs now, drifting a bit on the wind, too.
Small flakes, but lots of 'em. Can't see it causing too many problems in the morning ;-D
What a daft question that was - just as the other stuff was melting, I think we now have more snow than we did before:rolleyes:

I cleared the access onto site here in Brum yesterday and everything was thawing out nicely.
I came in this morning to see 4 inches of snow over everything again:(
Looks like its been bad here overnight, roads are slippy and people are driving like knobs.
Its still snowing heavily now too:(
Left a dry Essex this morning only to be met by snow on my way into London. Some of the roads around here are a bit grim. Plenty of parking though! SV riders -dead hard!

My Bro cleared the paths yesterday- I swore when i looked out of the window this morning. I wanna ride my bike again! Glad I got to Spanner Man yesterday, though...
This is on the way into work this morning. The start of the steep hill into a village. There were several cars at the bottom abandoned. The flash of light ahead is one such driver on his way back home after getting stuck.

And what is it with the BBC's "As forecast" comment on their article online? BBC Weather said 'light snow' for Suburbiton.
The BBC couldn't forecast their way out of an umbrella shop. FFS.
We had no snow over night but had something even stranger.
Freezing fog... there was quite literally 6mm of thick ice incasing my car this morning, I broke through it and started driving and the road were the same, did 1 mile in 2 hours (at a stand still) so came home yet again.
Fortunately I have the means to be able to do some work from home.
Yet again though 25 miles away in the office there is next to no problem so my boss does not believe me...luckily one of the directors was a couple of cars behind me and I had a chat with him before turning around.

Metcheck says that it's sunny here in Devizes (looks out of window at grey sky and falling snow). The Met Office says it's raining. Only the BBC gets it right with 'light snow'.

Decent amount in Caerphilly, no streets or hills have been plowed.
And a special thank you to all the COMPLETE MORONS who have just left their cars higgledy piggledy along both sides of a steep, winding hill. Come up this hill face to face with someone coming the other way, there's no space to move over, and I'm sure the downhill person's brakes won't stop them in time.

We have more snow this morning, side streets a bit of a pain but at least the main roads are quite clear this time!
HUGE flakes on snow coming down now !!
Has snowed all day here... miserable.
No more snow and it even started to melt. Raining on the way into work this morning. :)
Snow forcast for tomorrow. :(

Ours has all gone, not that we had a massive ammount compared to some of you anyway.
Its weird seeing colours again, i.e. green grass etc etc rather than everything just being white everywhere...
It would have to do one hell of a lot of thawing and raining before we see green again. With both falls of snow, it's about a foot thick everywhere. More snow forecast tomorrow.
I should add there is 70 miles between home and work. Work is thawing out. Home is not. :)
Slow melt here. Yesterday's snow was very wet, so is metling easily.
We have more rain.
First time I have actually been happy going to work in the pishing rain :)
Snow has all but gone. Thankfully. Can now get back to some serious running. :)

All gone in Wigan too!
The poor SV has been outside (covered) and unused since early December. Today, I put the key in, thumbed the button and... it's alive! First time, perfect idle. You gotta love Jap cr&p reliability.
Just got to find my helmet and get out.

Snows virtually all gone around Chester, went for a ride through to North Wales and while it's melting, there's still a fair bit up on the hills over Denbigh way. And where it's melted the roads have patches of standing water all over the place (plus fog, lots of fog, never ending thick fog, on the A543/B4501).
