Oh I've bought one although its not here yet as I bought it over Xmas while he was away. TBH I forgot I'd bought it until I looked at my ebay this morning. Christmas drinking and Ebay are a lethal concoction! :smt030 :D I was just hoping t wasn't a load of ****e.[-o<

Yup, the one I had wasn't too bad. It needed a little bit of tweaking to get it to fit - but nothing major. Mine had no fixing holes, but the indentations were there so you can drill yer own.

Cool, thanks,

The only problem with gel coat, is that it's a very smooth finish, and the primer doesn't adhere to it properly. I can guarantee that the paint will start flaking after a month or so, as the undertray will get a beating from the road carp that gets thrown at it!

PS. It doesn't matter how many coats of lacquer you apply to it either, it will eventually flake - please don't ask how I know this.

Sorry, but true.

I was thinking of just putting it on unpainted. It comes in black gel coat and my bike is black. I know it wont be colour matched but it'll be as near as dammit! :D

What are these like to fit, quite straightforward or lots of hacking about?

Thanks

Thanks The black gel coat one will look fine, as the shade under the bike will make it look colour-coded, especially a black one. Piece of phyiss to fit, just need to get the four black plastic pop rivets out, slide the under tray into place, and re-pop-rivet, IIRC? I seriously can't remember, as I did it so long ago.

HTH-all-the-same.

I bought one in black from same guy last year, it looks quite solid and well made but i havent got round to fitting it yet as it came with no fitting instructions and i'm not 100% on where to cut the old shovel or how it fits, anyone got instructions?

I bought a cut down shovel off ebay, it had been cut about half way down under the pillion seat. Then I had somewhere to mount the ECU.

You could cut the shovel as far as the battery box, just leave the tabs so that the battery box is properly supported.

I used little button head allen bolts and drilled through the shovel and used lock nuts on the inside by the battery box. I had to fabricate a couple of litte brackets at the tailight end to support the undertray. Then i used the button head bolts & nuts

I think I used one of the original fixing points on the subframe at the tail

Due to time constraints and not having any real clue about fitting one of these I've kind of put it on the back burner for now. If anyone has any close up pics of one fitted and where its cut I'd appreciate it. Also I was waiting on a ZX10 shock (which I now have) before fitting thinking I might as well do the lot in one go.:)

Well as I was doing the shock I thought Id fit this as well. Don't bother. Its not even close to fitting the bike and even with trimming its going to be a really ****e fit. There is no where to even drill the holes as it doesn't reach to where it would bolt in, so you'd have to make up brackets etc. Certainly not the smooth all in on look I wanted. Absolutely worthless. Thats one to put in the bin and down to experience I'm afraid.

None of it is anywhere near the SVs contours. You cant even make it fit without making up brackets. The shape doesn't match the mounting points at all. Even if you made up brackets you'd still hav e10 -200mm gaps to fill! I was going to hack the end off just to use in place of the snow plough bit and keep the actual SV undertray. But even that doesn't fit. The crescent shape around the rear light is miles off! Its just comepletely misshaped. I'd check yours though as it may be I got the wrong one or suchlike???

Finally got round to fitting the undertray and its not to bad for an ebay cheapy. Didnt need any brackets or the like. Doesnt quite sit right at the rear light crescent shape but i can live with it... for now :)

Nice job. If you were making these for a living you'd make the effort to make sure it fitted. A slight tweak to the mould and that could be perfect.

But, as you say, close enough for the price. A man on a galloping horse wouldn't even notice that gap.:D

Where did you get it? The eBay link in first post doesn't show.

i bought one of these years ago, i put it in the bin rather than leave it on the bike... just wish i hadn't left feedback before i decided to fit it
back then you could still get the proper TCP undertray, which was very nice... if you want one rather opt for a pyramid than the ebay tat

Was this guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV-650-UNDERTRAY-99-2002-NEW-/250651258729?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a5bfaaf69 had to do a bit of fiddling, filing, sanding and swearing to get it to fit but for the price its not that bad but by no means perfect either. Get what you pay for and im tight ;)

Think you can still get the TCP undertray if you go to their site

They'll still sell you parts for the fairing lowers
