Hi,

Can anyone give me some help? I set up a direct debit to pay off my credit card in full every month with LloydsTSB, when setting it up I asked when the first payment would start automatically and was told January, again I double checked to see whether the bill due on January 8th would be paid.....yep 100% sir it'll be paid!

I phoned on 7th January to double check this as I know direct debits take a while to set-up and again told it's all set-up to go out tomorrow. I've just got around to checking my account and guess what.....it's not gone out! :smt094

When I phoned the customer services I was told that they will refund my late charges but I'll have to ring back in two days as they haven't been applied to my account yet and therefore cannot be refunded...no problem. When asking about my credit score, as I'm going to be going for a mortgage next year, I was told I have to get a copy of my credit report to see if it's on there; if it is then they'll remove it.:smt094 :smt094

Surely they can stop it before it gets as far as my credit report? They've admitted it's their fault but basically won't do anything about it. Is there anything I can quote etc etc to get them to sort themselves out?

Thanks for reading!
Andy

I had the same with my Citi card .... for some reason the direct debit didn't go out ...

The chances of it affecting your credit score are nye-on zero .... I wouldn't panic ...

Can I ask why? I have read that unless it's 30 days late then it won't affect your credit score but can't confirm this at the moment. Anyone here working in the banking industry?

You are right ... I'm no expert .... but I do deal with mortgage applications and credit scores all the time at work, and unless you've got a CCJ (County Court Judgement) you've got no reason to worry about your credit score ...

IMO of course :-)

Sorry if my post came across in the wrong way :) I've just re-read it and it didn't come across how I intended.

Thanks for the advice, I just stress about these type of things as I'll be trying to get on the property ladder early next year.

The way some banks work is, they send off ALL of their missed payment repots on the same date, and for a couple of banks, I know that is the end of the month (last working day). I'm not sure when or how lloyds do it. But this means that say you're payment date is 1st of the month.

You pay 24th of the month. Even though you are almost a month late paying, it won't be sent off (as far as I know)

I've also heard, missed payments are worse than going overlimit. (From people in the banking industry)

I used to credit score mortgage applications once upon a time and ccj's and defaults were what we really worried about.
