Yes, they have the SV650 in Fast Bikes Magazine as a budget buy.
Quite a good write up about it as well. Came bottom, but was up against some very stiff opposition.

Maybe it depends on what it was judged for. We all know that it is a lovely bike with a real character, but there are some other plus points to the SV that it had to marked up for surely. Putting it up against some sports IL4's does seem a bit mean though. ;)

V-twin ROAARRR, thats its winning category (i know there's an rsv there but so far i havn't heard an rsv louder than my sv650 )

i highly doupt an rsv would be quieter than an sv.....

been up close n personal at junctions and our local tesco petrol station with them on about 3 occasions on the sv and i was disappointed by the level of noise from em! the one i found at tesco had a micron pipe tho so it may have been like steve's sh** quiet micron he managed to buy from GS! Still wouldn't turn an RSV down tho!!

I will scan it tonight when I get home (never thought of that), but it was up against some formiddable bikes
Seems a shiiiiiite comparision to me tbh.
A Verys(sp?), Bandit, Divvy would be a better comparision.

I think it's meant to be less of a head-to-head competition than here's a handful of cheap(ish) bikes worth considering. It might have been last, but I was happy to see they thought it worth including in that group.

£5k? So there's a cheap SV with full suspension and brake upgrades and tuned up to 85bhp. Comparing standard is hardly fair.

Haha, so comparing bikes seems to just be "what is around that is roughly the same cc?". in that case, they can go and compare my Ford Ka 1.3 with a xjr 1300
had a peek in asda unfaire test/comparison competition gsxr 1000 , gsxr 750 , milie 1000 , cbr600 , she's the only 650 v twin there , shes the cheapest , and fundermentaly all the other are more expensive !!! even though she still got a good wright up against this competition.

I read the article and thought the SV came out very well. Sure in terms of outright performance it's not in the same league as the other bikes but I don't think that was the point of the article. It was about cheap thrills and I got the impression they sorted bikes into groups defined by their performance envelope/style and then picked one for each group.
Representing the big twin bikes was the RSV,
Big sports bikes the GSXR1000
Middle sports bikes the GSXR750
Little sports bikes the CBR600
And bringing up the rear and representing the budget all rounders the good old SV650.
Instead of thinking of the test as the SV against the others think of it as an article about different types of bikes. If you were a relatively inexperienced rider and were thinking of getting a bigger bike would that article have helped you decide what to spend your budget on...? I suspect quite a few might have decided to hang onto their SV!

Yeah, I've read that as I subscribe to Fastbikes.
It got a good review for being "easy to ride", "bullet proof", "sublime fueling", "soft gearbox" and "oodles of usable power".
It wasn't all dandy though as it was called "Ultimately Gay" and "It's ultimately as dull as a p!ssup with Steven Hawking". Bit harsh I thought.

It has to be better than my current ride, I swear blind that my CG125 is only firing on one! :smt043
Oh well, I am determined that this year I am taking my damn test, then I can tell you what I think of riding SV650S bikes...:why:

I actually had a gay ****up with Steven Hawkins, not at all dull. Certainly not as dull as talking to a Ducati owner.
