I'm seriously considering this bike to use as a tourer and maybe everyday use. I'm not sure I'd like it though so was thinking of renting one to see how it goes first. Does anyone have any idea who rents one anywhere in UK? I've found a company in Cornwall but they haven't got back to me yet. Anywhere else?

I'm thinking of renting mid May for a week or ten days and spend them exploring the countryside . If anyone can lend a hand in this search I'd be glad. Lozzo is already helping out checking with his mates and mates of mates :) So thanks Lozzo. Of course he's happy to have his black Versys clan expanding a bit LOL.

George White's in Swindon, and also a company in Liverpool. But I don't know if either do the Versys.

I'm sending a mail to Perthmics Ralph, Thanks mate! It's a bit lofty at 80 sterling p/day but they said discounts are available over 3 days.

Hey Bri, you wouldn't have url's of the companies you mentioned would you. I'm having a hard time finding them mate.

George White (http://www.georgewhite.co.uk/), can't help with Liverpool.

Mr Shonadoll has a versys, I'm sure he'd lend it too you...

Hi Tiger55, thanks for the George White URL. Are you guys sure they rent as well as there doesn't seem to be any mention of that on there site. I've mailed them an inquiry just the same. Looks like it's a lovely shop that. I wouldn't mind visiting, These fully equipped bike shops are a big lure aren't they? I'd get lost in there and stay for hours.

Yep: http://www.georgewhite.co.uk/?section=suitable_bike_hire

The list there is a 'selection' of the bikes they hire so maybe they do the Versys, maybe not, you'd have to buzz 'em.

Lozzo is a nice guy and he already told me I could take his for a spin. I'm not comfortable doing that though. I don't feel it's right. Problem is these Versys are not that popular to rent so its hard finding one. They're also more expensive to rent, 30 quid more a day in fact then the same engined ER-6n! Don't know why? Harder to repair maybe in case of damage?

I'm tempted to a Versys too .... I might take one for a test ride before I fork out to hire one tho..

If you do get to know a rental that as a Versys available do give me a shout LK-SV. What brought the Versys to your attention then?

'Cos there is a perception it's bigger and more comfortable, so they charge you more and rip you off.

Same as car rental companies, ask for a mid sized car and you might get a mid range Golf diesel worth 16 grand. Ask the same company for a big car you'll probably get a base spec petrol Vectra worth 14 grand. Guess which one will be more expensive?

I love the SV, but most of my riding is commuting work and I want to do a few long rides this year (probably 2 up), and the position of the SVS is OK, but not ideal IMO for town work, or long journeys ....

Looking at the competition its very good value, the twin is economical and characterful, and its got some sort of (admitedly small) fairing (the Gladius was any option, but looks a bit camp, and has no fairing) ...

Not sure about the orange or green .... but Lozzo's in black looks great ....

You ??
