I had a broken speedo last month and i took the front wheel off and discovered that my speedo gear had no teeth/arms left on it so replaced it(probably just worn out through excessive mileage) however now I have a broken speedo as of a small rake yesterday, pinned it in 2nd off a roundabout and the front was twitchy n bouncy but i didnt slam the front down hard or nethin just about 1/2" off ground prob but i thought nothing of it till 1/4mile up the road when i looked down and saw my speedo was at 0.
Its not an instrument fault as all the other lights screen and rev counter work.
The gear is still good as new, well greased and turns reasonably freely in the housing and when ridin along occasionally it picks up to speed or flicks up and down. All fuses are working also.
Could a poor connection be to blame? I had all the front plastics off and cleaned all the connector boxes a few weeks back also as i was having problems with a blowing fuse but this is all resolved now!
:cheers:hoooray for my continually problematic curvy k1

First check all the relevant wiring for continuity - it sounds like an intermittent contact somewhere.

Already checked it again, thot I mentioned above... It's not broken I'm pretty sure it's a wiring fault today anyway as I accelerated rapidly to 30mph aparently several times while the bike was idling in my driveway!!!
