View Full Version : iPod Woes
Can anyone help me with this? My iPod jog wheel has stopped working. Bit of a nightmare if I was using it by hand but Im using it in the car and its controlled by my head unit so its not too bad. Would still like to get it working again though. Anyone had anything similar happen with theirs and if so, did you get it fixed?
TIA
does it give any error messages ?

Prob just a loose connection inside, you ever dropped or mis treated it?

it would be fairly difficult to get the ribbon wire that its connected by to fall out by dropping it....but its not hard to take appart to check i suppose, just be carefull splitting the case its very easy to damage
Its pretty much only ever put in the glove box then taken out again when I get home from work. Occasionally gets plugged into the stereo at home when the blue moon shines.
No error messages on screen. In fact, the screen is stuck on the menu at the moment. I can so the soft reset thing (hold select and up) but that doesnt make any difference. It just stays back on the menu after its rebooted.
Try flicking the lock on and then off again. Mine plays up if it it not quite one or the other.

not to sure now, if all the bottons work it wont be a loose connection, i dont remember there being separate wires connecting the touch and the buttons, what gen ipod is it? if its still under warranty send it back, or just take it to an apple store and they should tell you whats wrong with it
sounds like if knackered, post it to me please.
I've always wanted to video an Ipod going through my rear sprocket....
It could be a new sport, the new Apple "ideath..."
Go on the apple forums for the ipod, there plenty of info on there. Also I was Just Joking about you posting it me as well !
What ipod is it? you can book them in at your local apple stor to get looked at, i need to book mine in as the headphone jack keeps playing up and losing sound in the left speaker
Dont fancy paying to take it to the Apple geeks who will only tell me to buy a new one anyway. Apple make enough money as it is and as my iPod is out of warranty ( I got it at Xmas 05) they can suck my balls if they want any more!!
Done the lock off and on thing - didnt do anything apart from lock it and unlock it. Surprising that really!! hee hee
I got them to replace a broken screen once foc :p
I thought there was some law all elctronics have 5 yr warranty

When you do the lock on lock off thing, you need to then press the centre button and the play button down simultaniously - that should be a complete reset.
Have you tried connecting it to PC and restoring it?

Tried the lock on/off then reset but it didnt do anything. Ive not yet done a restore on the PC though. It did get one however a couple of months back, but the wheel was still working then.
